Hi I'm Katie

I am a singer. I am a Preschool Teacher. I am a nursing student. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a sophomore in college who spent one and a half years, like most college students do, majoring in the wrong thing. I am now a nursing major, and will start nursing school in six months. I know that Heavenly Father has guided me to make this decision, and that I am doing exactly what he would have me do. I have a loving family; complete with a mom, stepdad, older sister who is married with two young children, an older brother about to get married, and a stepsister with a brand new perfect baby. I am so incredibly blessed to be who I am, and to have the people I love most surrounding me and supporting me in the crazy things I venture to do!

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all of my life. I have never realized how much I have taken the knowledge of The Gospel until I found myself at the age of nineteen, unsure of what I believed. I know that my life would be completely different if I was not a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS). My life has had its ups and downs with trials, heartache, fears and anxiety. Looking back at those times in my life where I have struggled, and may have even cursed God and gotten angry with him, and asked Why he was letting these things happen to me; I can see that these are the things that have shaped me, and molded me into what I am today. Our loving Heavenly Father KNOWS each and every one of us individually better then we know ourselves, so I have complete faith in him and trust that he will not lead me astray or send me the wrong way.As I said before, I haven't ever lacked in trials before. But, I also have not lacked in the help, the love, and the guidance of Heavenly Father. I know, without a shadow of a doubt that He has never left me alone, not once. Not when I have cried myself to sleep, not when I have been admitted to the Hospital, not when I was away at college, he has never left. However, I have also learned that those times I felt alone, and like he had left me; it was simply because I stopped doing things necessary to feel his comfort, guidance and love. If there is one thing that I can say, with complete and utter confidence, it is the Heavenly Father never, no never, will ever leave us alone. Although my family is so very far from being perfect, I am so grateful for them, even in their imperfections. Without my older sister, brother-in-law, older brother, mom and stepdad, I am not quite sure where I would be in my life. I am so grateful for their support in everything (even the dumb things I do that come back and bite me) and for the love, grace and mercy that they show me on a daily basis.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in many different ways. First off, I am involved in my Singles Ward. (A ward is like a congregation, the people in a geographical area are assigned to be in a "ward". A singles ward is where all the singles, ages 18-31 meet together) I go to the different activates that are given, and hang out with my friends who are a good support to me. I also strive my best to follow the guidelines and commandments that Heavenly Father and The Prophets have given us. Although we are not forced to do these things, I choose to do them because I know that Heavenly Father would be pleased with me if I listen to the things that he has guided us to do. I choose not to listen to bad, vulgar music; while I do love modern music on the radio, I carefully chose the songs and artists. I chose to dress modestly by not wearing anything too revealing. I have also chosen to only wear one set of earrings and not get any body piercings. Along with piercings, I have decided to follow the guideline of no tattoos. I also live my faith by doing other things that we have been asked to do. Reading the Scriptures, namely the Book Of Mormon has been a great strength to me. The more I try to understand them on a deeper level, the more I learn and can grow as not only a Church Member, but also as a person. I also say my prayers every morning and night, and always have a prayer in my heart. I know that Heavenly Father hears our prayers, and knows what we need when we need it. I am grateful for the communication that we are able to have with our Father in Heaven; it is a wonderful thing to be able to have someone listening on the other end of things, someone who won’t judge you, talk back to you, or be mean. I have also found that as I pray, I find solutions to my problems that I may have not thought about before. I am forever grateful that Heavenly Father has been kind enough to keep that line of communication open for all of us to pray to him.
