Hi I'm Paul

I like people, airplanes and dramatic landscapes. I love to read. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love aircraft, books, the outdoors and interesting people (like you). I am currently working on a bachelor’s degree at a local college. I work around aircraft and hope to become a flight instructor. I really like people, even the weird ones. Maybe that says a lot about me. I am happily married to a beautiful woman who makes me smile. Together we have a new baby boy. We are struggling to get our apartment ready for when he starts crawling and walking. Sky diving, snorkeling, spelunking, world traveling, fishing, hiking, hunting and sitting in front of a T.V. are all things I have enjoyed doing in the past and will probably try again.

Why I am a Mormon

A few reasons: 1. God speaks to us today. God can speak directly to you. I have experienced this. He speaks to us through his scriptures and through personal promptings. It is wonderful to listen to words directly from God’s prophets on the Earth today. As I listen to their words I often feel the Spirit teaching me that what I learn is true. 2. Christ is the Cornerstone. As I study the scriptures they point me towards Christ. The Bible and Book of Mormon both give me a better understanding of my relationship with Jesus. I know why I must not only confess that “Jesus is Lord” but I must also change my behavior to reflect that understanding. Christ has done his part in preparing a place for me in his mansions. It is now up to me to follow Him. 3. Mormons stand against immorality. I am proud to be Christian and support healthy dressing styles. Styles that help men and women stay morally clean and keep promises made during marriage. I have witnessed the youth of the Church stand for morality again and again and I am always reminded that the church does a wonderful job teaching correct moral principles.

How I live my faith

I'm a Cub Scout leader on Tuesday nights. I work with the 10-11 year old boys who are part of our troop. For a couple of years I helped coordinate large youth activities in which teenage youth danced, partied and learned about the Lord's plan for them. I like to talk to co-workers about my beliefs and encourage them to find out more. I try to love all people. God knows this isn't the easiest thing to do. I try to remember that every human being is important to Heavenly Father. Each person is my spiritual Brother or Sister. Thinking of others in this way helps me look at them as part of my family. I grow a garden. This is part of my faith, because we believe in being self-sufficient. I'm not very good at gardening, but I'm getting better.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

We believe the Bible has been one of God's greatest tools in helping people learn of him and draw closer to Him. There is no replacement to the Bible. The New Testament contains crucial lessons as it tells us of Christ's life and teachings. It describes in detail what Jesus did and taught others to do. His example is incredible and his words enduring. We believe the Bible is God's word and believe as we follow its teachings we will draw nearer to Him. Show more Show less
