Hi I'm Gordon

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in California, Hawaii, and Arizona. I moved to Colorado after living in Utah for 13 years. While in Utah, I graduated from BYU with a degree in Construction Management and have been employed in the construction industry for many years. I work as a sales manager for a building materials distribution company. I have a large family with a wonderful wife and 5 children. We love to be in the great outdoors. I took up running a few years ago and have really enjoyed it. I have run 10 half marathons and even ran a full marathon in 2008. I love to go mountain biking with my family as well as hiking, camping and just being out in nature. I have also been very active in the Boy Scouts of America with my boys. I have really enjoyed being a scout master and having great activities with the boys.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church because I want to follow my Savior Jesus Christ and be the best person that I can be. I believe that Heavenly Father loves each one of us and wants us to be happy. I have found that great happiness comes from service and obedience to the commandments. The church is lead by a living prophet who receives revelation and provides members of the church with direction and guidance to navigate the difficulties of the world we live in. I love to read the scriptures and to learn of experiences of prophets who lived throughout time in all corners of the world. I am inspired by the stories in the scriptures that teach me the meaning of life and how we should live to be happy in our experience here on Earth. I believe that we lived as spirits before this Earthly experience. We chose to be born into this word as part of the great plan for us to receive a body and to have experiences that would test us and help us learn and grow. An atonement was prepared for us by our loving Heavenly Father through his son Jesus Christ. Through this amazing act of love toward us, each of us can be cleansed of Sin and be able to return to the presences of our Father in Heaven when we leave this Earth life. This plan offers great hope for all mankind that have lived. Families can be together forever! I love my Savior, Jesus Christ, for all that he was willing to sacrifice for me.

How I live my faith

I have a chance to work with the youth of our ward. I love the chance to see the young men and young women grow and mature. They have great faith and they strengthen me because of their resolve to choose the right. I am able to work in relief efforts of the members that live in our area. I have a chance to see members offer service and support of those who are struggling, and to see that service change lives. I am a home teacher and am assigned to visit a few member families of our ward. I love the chance to visit with them and offer any support or service that I can offer. I have a son who is serving a full time mission for the church in another country. It has been difficult to have him far from home where we don't get to see him regularly. He is making a difference in the lives of those he is teaching and helping others receive the happy news of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I try to live in a way that will allow me to be close to my Heavenly Father.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

I believe that families can be together forever. I believe that families were organized because it is together in the family unit that we can teach and learn. We are given the opportunity in a family to grow together and have the bonds that will help us get through the hardest of life's experiences. Great happiness can come through our family bonds as parents, children, or as siblings. Show more Show less
