Hi I'm Mike Seaman

I have lived in 4 of the western United States. I'm the CFO of public school district. I'm 58 years old & I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to snow ski, water ski, wake board, hike & run. I have six daughters and six son-in-laws and 19 grandchildren. My wife is a teacher. We have lived in a small rural town in Arizona (USA) for the last 35 years and have raised our family here and have loved it. Our greatest joy is our family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family, as were both of my parents, as were all of their parents. Most of my great-great grandparents joined the Church in Denmark and England and immigrated to the United States sacrificing almost all they had to be with people that belonged to the church. I was raised in a family that espoused conservative Christian values and beliefs and since then, I guess I have always been and wanted to be a Mormon. My religion has always felt like home. I have found that my faith in God and his Son has grown through the years as I have have come to know them through service to them and the people that have come into my life. The longer I live, the more I know that the questions that life raises are answered in the doctrines of this Church. In our Church, they say that your faith becomes stronger as you express your knowledge and beliefs vocally or in writing, It is difficult to express in words, your testimony, when you know that the whole world may read it some day. Not that they really will, but the potential is there. It makes you think about it either way. Without getting too wordy, the following is my testimony of the truth about God and his Son and this Church as I have come to know it. I know that God, our Heavenly Father, is a perfected physical being, with a tangible body of flesh and bone. He is the Father of our spirits. I know that His Son, Jesus Christ, His only Son born in the flesh, lived, taught us His gospel, atoned for our sins, died for us and is now a resurrected, perfected being that loves us and wants us to follow Him. I know the gospel of Jesus Christ was restored to the earth after a long absence through the Prophet Joseph Smith. As a 14 year old boy, Joseph Smith, prayed and asked God which Church he should join. His answer to the pray was a vision of God, the Father, and His Son Jesus Christ. They actually answered his prayer. There have been Prophets on the earth again since that time guiding this Church.

How I live my faith

Some of the greatest experiences in my life have been during the times that I have been called to leadership or teaching positions. Because our Church does not pay its leadership for their services, regular people like me and you are called to do certain duties and assignments. Through this service I have come to know God. I have seen his hand working in other people's lives. Small miracles occurring on a regular basis. At times it was a little scary to teach or lead, but by having confidence and faith that God lives and cares what happens to me and you, things seem to always work out somehow. What a great experience it has been. This religion is so comfortable that you almost don't realize that you are changing your life in small ways every day. Some people think it is a hard religion to live because there are certain standards that God wants us to live. Once you're past the addictions and habits of the world, things begin to change. Mostly you. To be honest and compassionate are characteristics that most good people like to have. The people of this church are some of the most honest and compassionate people I know. I like that. I like giving service to people around me. It has given me some of the greatest moments of my life. When all is said and done, I hope I am remembered for an honest, caring, compassionate man who loved his family more than anything else. And it will be due to the teachings of the Savior that are found in this church.
