Hi I'm Kay

I grew up in Minnesota and California. I'm a teacher, a wife, a mother, and a grandmother. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

One of the joys of my life is spending time with my family - especially my three grandchildren! I find great pleasure in beautiful music. Some of my favorites are Broadway musicals like The Phantom of the Opera. I have learned to appreciate classical musical and opera. The "Golden Oldies" are also favorites. I was in high school when the Beatles were a phenomenon so I love their music. My husband and I like to travel. We recently visited the states of Arizona and Texas. We appreciate living in a country with so much variety of beautiful scenery.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Christian home. In fact my father was a minister in the Episcopal church. My family attended church regularly. We lived in Hollywood, California during my teen-age years. My parents sent me to a Catholic girls school where I received an outstanding education. I attended religion classes there, too. As a youth I started questioning my purpose in life, where I came from and what life after mortality would be like. Since I didn't find answers to these questions in the Episcopal church or the Catholic church, I was open minded when I met Mormons. I eventually married a Mormon and then began to seriously study the Mormon church. I prayed about the truthfulness of The Book of Mormon and received a testimony that it is true scripture, that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that the church of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth. I was baptized in 1972. I have always been thankful that the Lord led me to find the answers to the burning questions that I had as a young person. I am grateful for the knowledge that I am a daughter of God who lived with him and others of His spirit children in the premortal life. My life has purpose as I strive to live worthy to return to His presence. I know that is only through the atonement of Jesus Christ that I can be forgiven of my sins and be worthy to live with God and Jesus and my family in the eternities.

How I live my faith

Since I joined the church in 1972 I have attended regularly and accepted assignments in the church such as teaching in Primary, the auxiliary for children from age 18 months to 12. I love serving in Primary because I know how much Jesus loved children and I feel His love when I am among the children. I find comfort, guidance, and learning as I attend the temple of the Lord. It is a sacred place - a place of love and beauty. Because I love the Lord and feel so grateful for the blessings of His gospel, I am going to serve a mission with my wonderful husband. We have been called to serve in Portland, Oregon. It is very exciting to be going to a new city and meeting new people.
