Hi I'm Julie

I'm of pioneer stock, born and raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You know it! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

There is nothing that gives me greater pleasure than to be with my family. It's a little ironic that we are the only members of our family that live in Colorado. So we cherish the times we can get together. I'm a daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandma. Each of those "roles" are important to me. When Christ was on the earth he loved to spend time with little children. "For such is the kingdom of heaven." I am blessed to work with little children at a wonderful children's center. I work with typical children and children with special needs. It is humbling to see what they can teach you. Each day I am with them I am thankful for little things that enrich my life. I love working with the youth of the church. They are amazing. I love to feel their energy and love of life.

Why I am a Mormon

Even when you are born and raised in the Church, it is important to find out for yourself if the teachings are true. For many years I followed my parents wonderful example. Then there came a time when I needed to know for myself. I was fortunate to be in many situations where I felt the Spirit. Through prayer, study and trying to be obedient I developed my own testimony of the teaching of the Church. I know my Savior lives. I know Joseph Smith was a prophet and he translated The Book of Mormon which is another testament of Christ. I have had a special witness that there are prophets on this earth today. I know that by living the gospel my life is blessed and fulfilled.

How I live my faith

Lucky Me! I get to work with the youth of our Church. If you ever want to feel young again just try to keep up with girls 12-18. Whether it is camping, crafting or playing ultimate frisbee, they have a way of bringing out the "fun" in you. Each Sunday the young women of our church, stand and recite the Young Women's theme: "We are daughters of a Heavenly Father who loves us and we love Him. We will stand as witnesses of God at all times in all things and in all places..." That's how I want to live my faith. I want to be a witness of God and of Jesus Christ wherever I am and whatever I do.

Who chooses the Mormon prophet?

Julie
A few years ago when Gordon B. Hinckley was the prophet of the church, I was fortunate to go with a group of young women to the conference center in Salt Lake City to hear him speak. As usual when many women are together there was a lot of visiting going on. The leaders of our church were coming in to sit on the stand as the meeting was soon to begin. As President Hinckley came in there was a sudden hush in the center. Every eye was on him. At that time I had a special witness, from the Holy Ghost, that he was indeed a prophet of God. I know that each Latter-day prophet since Joseph Smith. was called by God. The things they teach will always lead you closer to Him and to our Savior, Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
