Hi I'm Jon

I'm from Arizona. I'm a CPA and real estate professional. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My professional background is in finance and accounting. I attended business school on the east coast and worked there for several years before relocating to the Southwest. Currently, I am a partner in a small real estate firm. My wife and I have four small children. While not the athlete I was once was, I still love playing and following sports. Coaching my sons' soccer teams has been a yearly tradition. I also enjoy spending time in the outdoors with my family - we often spend time together in the cool mountains to escape the desert heat.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because it makes me a better husband and father. It makes me happy and keeps me grounded in the important things of life. Being a Mormon also gives me opportunities to be of service to others who have not been as fortunate as I have in life. Perhaps most importantly, I'm a Mormon because it has increased my faith and love for Jesus Christ and has drawn me closer to God.

How I live my faith

My faith teaches me to do as Jesus did and put others before self. Opportunities to put this principle in action are abundant in the Mormon Church. Since the church does not have a paid ministry, everyone volunteers and helps out where they can. I have had the opportunity to teach Sunday School to 13 year olds, be a mentor to inmates at a prison near our home, distribute food to those who have fallen on hard times, serve as the leader in a local Boy Scout troop. All of this requires time, for sure. But, the service ends up being its own reward. My children have learned to be more kind, understanding, and aware of needs in the community as a result. Another way I live my faith is by serving on the board of school for blind children. One of our children was born blind with other disabilities. Like so many other parents like us, we have struggled to know how to best care for and help our son. Through volunteering my time and energies to this organization, I have found joy in associating with and perhaps helping to lighten the loads of others parents like me.
