Hi I'm Darley

Brazilian Portuguese is my first language. I love my family, music and photography. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Music, photography and reading are some of my favorites hobbies. I haven't been doing it recently, but I love to study languages. I also enjoy gardening. I'm a proud mother of two adorable little girls. I served as a missionary in Recife, Brazil, between 1997-1998. One of the best times in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I remember when I was a little kid, and my mother liked to take my brothers and I to visit different churches. Her faith in God helped me to want to believe and love Him too. So I grew up believing. Through the years I tried to go to so many different churches with friends and neighbors. I always felt welcome but for me something was missing. When I was 14 years old, a friend of mine invited me to listen to the discussions with her family. I had no idea what she meant. Seeing my face with a question mark, she explained to me about the missionaries and the LDS church. I was so curious. I had heard about the Mormons before. So I decided I wanted to see and check for myself if what people had said about them was true. After the first discussion, I learned how to pray. And for the first time I really prayed. My father was not very happy when I told him that I wanted to be baptized and join the LDS church. I knew that all the things that the missionaries had taught me was true. I could feel in my heart. I could feel it in my soul. So I was so upset when dad gave me two options My home or my new faith. I looked at my mom and I said "my faith", trusting in the Lord with all my heart that dad would change his mind. And he did. *Big smile* I'm a Mormon because there are some impressions that can't be denied. Those feelings that I had when I was at a young age, I still have them today. I knew that there is a God, and He loves us. Growing to know Him, gave my soul peace and joy, and gave me guidance during my life. I know He lives and that He sent Jesus to help us to find the way back home.

How I live my faith

I love the primary song that says "I'm trying to be like Jesus". It isn't even close to easy to be like Jesus. But we can try our best. First of all, I try to be the best for my family. I love them so very much! And making them happy makes me to want to be better and better. At church I teach the 3-4 year old children. It is amazing to watch them growing physically and spiritually during the year. I love to watch their faces while they listen to stories of Jesus and the gospel. It is so special. As I visit with a few sisters every month, I want them to know that I care for them and I am there to be their friend. I have made so many great friends through the years. And I'll treasure forever their friendship and love. Being kind to everyone, trying to be helpful and always prompted to listen and to a have a smile on my face, are some of the ways I try to live my faith.
