Hi I'm Cris

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife, Carol, and I have been married for just over 30 years. We're the parents of three wonderful daughters and a great son. Our oldest daughter has added a son-in-law and two grandkids to the mix. With the kids all moving on with college, missions and careers, we've rediscovered how much we enjoy each other’s company. I love getting out on trails with my dirt bike and love when my son or a friend can come along - although the solo rides are very energizing, also. My all-time favorite ride was a ten day, solo, unsupported trip from Colorado to Canada on trails and dirt roads. I truly enjoy the beauty our Heavenly Father created all around us.

Why I am a Mormon

Since I was born & raised Mormon, the more appropriate heading might be "Why I'm still a Mormon." I feel there are two pieces - the gospel and the church. The gospel encompasses the teachings of Jesus Christ which are without doubt principles upon which a meaningful life can be built. The church then provides the organization and structure for implementing those principles. "Cage" has a bad connotation, but a tomato cage provides the structure that allows a tomato plant to reach its full potential. Without that structure, the vines scatter and the fruit rots on the ground. Similarly, the church provides the framework for implementing Christ’s teachings.

How I live my faith

Over the years I've done a little bit of everything. Abou five years ago I served with the college age congregation at the University of Colorado. It made me feel young again (until I looked in the mirror!) It's been fulfilling to have the opportunity to serve others and not become overly focussed on myself.
