Hi I'm Sherry

I love my family. I was raised Catholic & Buddhist. I'm a wife, a mother of six amazing children, I love life, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

As my father and mother flee Vietnam they brought only what was necessary, all five of their children. We rode the last bus to the US embassy as it was struck by a bomb. Most of the people in the bus were killed. Only by the grace of our Heavenly father did my family survive. My father and mother continued to flee on foot running towards the US embassy carrying all 5 small children ages 6 months to 8 years. After night fall and early into the next morning we reached the US embassy. My father who we love so dearly grabbed a hold of my mother and all 5 of us and continued to carry and pull us up all 9 flights of stairs. As we reached the top of the roof we were met with a small helicopter that would fly us out of the range of the bombs. We landed on the dock to board the last ship leaving Vietnam. We clung to my father with my mother in fervent prayer. And only by the tender mercies of our Heavenly Father were our prayers answered. To conclude after many stops we finally reached America the evening of July 3rd. What a surprise to wake up the next morning to the Fourth of July Fireworks. We left behind the fearful bombs of Vietnam in exchange for the Freedom Bombs of America. I am truly grateful for a most kind and loving heavenly father, with all his tender mercy. I am grateful for the tremendous love I feel from him each everyday and through out my life. I know that my family was lead out of Vietnam to the promise land and only by his hand were we allowed this great blessing!

Why I am a Mormon

2nd Nephi1:5; "But said he not withstanding our affliction, we have obtained a land of promise, a land which is choice above all other lands; a land which the Lord God hath covenanted with me should be a land for the inheritance of my seed. Yea, the Lord hath covenanted this land unto me and to my children forever, and also all those who should be led out of other countries by the hand of the Lord." I have seen the Lord's hand tenderly and mercifully guiding my life and those around me. I have always had a love for the Lord and a true desire to know which church is true. I 'm extremely blessed to be raised by two amazing and loving parents. My fathers was raised Buddhist and my mother Catholic. I love and honor my parents to the highest degree. As a child I was taught both religions. I did not feel a pull towards either religion and I truly wanted religion in my life. My life goal was to be able to prayerfully find which church was true and to also be able to share the same religion with my husband and eventually for our children that would then come and bless our lives. I love my parents with all my heart and as a child I would watch them love each other and as a child I would also watch them struggle to communicate due to the differences in their religious beliefs. As a child it was difficult to watch my mother struggle to communicate and share her thoughts of faith and her love for God with my father. As a very young child I knew with certainty that when I married, my husband would have to share the same religion and religious belief and purpose. After prayerfully searching my heart is full of joy as both my husband and I were able to gain a testimony that The Book of Mormon is true. We both accepted the invitation to be baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints and worked diligently to be sealed in Temple as a family for all of eternity. I am a Mormon because I know that these things are true and I say them in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

After two years of prayerful searching to know which church was true. My husband and I were baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints and shortly after that we were sealed for time and all eternity in the Los Angeles, CA Temple 1994. We are truly blessed with 6 amazing children that were born under these amazing and sacred Temple covenants. We strive to live our faith by teaching our children by example. To love the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with all their heart, mind, and Spirit that they will be able to have a portion of the Lord's Spirit to be with them to guide them to choose the right, to love others by their service and good works and to be a good example to others that they may also know the truth in all things. And to know with a surety that we are all children of a kind, tender, and merciful Heavenly Father who love us all and knows each one of us individually by name. We strive to go to the temple to remember the promises we have made and pay great respect to our ancestors who came before us. To do good work for them and others that have loved us and have paved the way for us to be able to enjoy these freedoms we have today. We strive to choose the right and be good examples and to learn and teach correct principles to our children and all others around us. We strive to volunteer our time and talents in our community to foster a love of family, community, and most importantly a love of our Heavenly Father and a love for our brother Jesus Christ. That by our example our children will continue to teach their children and the generations to follow to do what is right, with charity, love, and kindness.
