Hi I'm Casey Dickson

I am a missionary, like my father before me; sports are my life; I love Star Wars and Harry Potter, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My entire family is into sports: my dad played in high school, and is the sports editor for the local paper. My mom played sports in high school as well and was the head coach of the a Girl's Basketball Team (which she lead to 2 state championships) as well as the volleyball coach. She is registered nurse and is now an assistant coach for volleyball and basketball. I played in high school (football, wrestling, and lacrosse), but I wasn't very good; I still loved it, and love to watch sports. I also enjoy reading books, especially Harry Potter! I still watch and play Pokemon, and I'm not ashamed! I have a younger brother and sister, who are both better than me at sports; my brother does basketball, and my sister does basketball, volleyball, and track. I tease them both to tears; I love my family, even if we get on each others nerves sometimes. I'd like to think I'm a nice guy; I'm usually kind of shy until I get to know someone, then I'm Mr. Personality! I try to get along with everyone and be friendly with everyone. I'm the peacemaker of my house. I'd like to think I'm a funny guy (my mom says I am, anyway), and am very easy-going, though I do stand up for what I think is right. I learned the value of hard work from my dad, and believe in finishing what I start. I know Christ is my Savior, that the Book of Mormon is true, and that the true church has been restored on the earth once more.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the church, but that isn't why I'm a Mormon; I had to come to know for myself if these things were true. Without a shadow of a doubt in my mind I can tell you that this church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is true. I have had highs and lows; life can be hard sometimes. But I know things will be just fine; if fact, they'll be wonderful! I have had sins that I thought could not be forgiven, that I was not worthy to be pardoned; but I can tell you from experience that the Lord forgives you long before you forgive yourself. If you repent, and use Christ's Atonement to conquer your sins, you can not only be forgiven, but have a long, happy, terrific, wonderful life in love and peace! I am a Mormon because I would be miserable being anyone else! I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, that it is another Testament of Christ, and goes hand in hand with the Bible. I know Joseph Smith was the Prophet of the Restoration, and that President Thomas S. Monson is our current prophet, continually giving us guidance from the Lord. I bear my testimony, that I know without a shadow of a doubt, that God is our loving Heavenly Father, and we are His children; that He sent His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ, to be our Savior and Redeemer. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, and that it testifies of Jesus Christ along with the Bible. And since the Book of Mormon is true, then Joseph Smith was a prophet; and if he was a prophet, then Christ's true church is restored to the earth; and if the church is restored, then it was lost after Christ's apostles death as foretold by the prophets, and the authority to act in God's name has returned to the earth. I testify that this church is true, and nothing could ever shake my faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement. Amen.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving a full-time mission (2 years) in Atlanta, Georgia, to: invite others to come unto Christ by helping them recieve the restored gospel through Faith in Jesus Christ and his Atonement, Repentance, Baptism, Recieving the Gift of the Holy Ghost, and Enduring to the End. I once taught our member neighbors with my father (home teaching), and also at one point taught the 6-7 year olds in our church building, also with my father. I also try let my standards and values affect all other aspects of my life; I believe it is by living your religion that you show that your a Christian, or a Buddist, or whatever else. I try to live as Jesus did.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Casey Dickson
The Book of Mormon is a record of the ancient inhabitants of America, and their dealings with God; namely, the native Americans. God is no respector of persons; He loves all His children. He wants us all to make it back to live with Him; the Book of Mormon is proof to me that God loves all people of all nations; why would he only give His Word to just the Children of Israel? The Book of Mormon was written by the prophets that were called of God on the American Continent; they too testifed that Jesus is the Christ, and he would surely come to redeem us from our sins. The book gets it's name from the prophet Mormon, who collected the individual records kept by prophets throughout the centuries, and complied them into one volume, written on gold plates. He gave them to his son, Moroni, who buried them in a hill by what is now known as Upstate New York. Centuries later, a young man named Joseph Smith, who wanted to know which church was true, had a vision of God the Father and His Son, who told him the truth was lost over the years, and he would be a tool in the Lord's hands to restore what was lost. A few years later, that same Moroni who buried the plates, visited Joseph as an angel of the Lord, and directed him to the ancient record. Through the gift on power of God, he was able to translate the book into English. The Book of Mormon helps us understand the fullness of the Gospel; with the Bible, we can discover God's will for us. How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Casey Dickson
Meet with the missionaries! They are the ones in white shirts, ties, and black nametags. They'll probably be on a bike. They'll show you how you can become closer to your Savior through prayer, scripture study, and church attendance; in short, all things that bring the spirit. Show more Show less

In whom should we have faith?

Casey Dickson
Helaman chapter 5 verse 12 in the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ says, "And now, my sons, remember, remember, that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall." Put your faith in Christ, and "do the things which ye have seen [your Savior] do" (2 Nephi 31: 12) Show more Show less
