Hi I'm Melissa

I have 2 beautiful children, a loving husband and a strong faith in God and His Son. What more could I ask for?

About Me

I love to take care of my family and home. I love to play with them, bake with them, sing and dance with them. I love spending time with my family. My favorite activities are camping and fishing--especially fishing in the urban lakes in the winter for trout. Though I'm the only one who eats them in my house, it's a great fish fry when we have a good catch. I love AZ and it will always be my home.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a member family and baptized when I was 8, but I fully converted after I read the Book of Mormon for the first time completely through on my own. Growing up in the church, you hear all the time what to expect when you finish reading the Book of Mormon. One night, after reading Moroni 10:4-5, I prayed for confirmation. I didn't hear any singing angels or audible words of truth, but I will never deny the feeling of peace I felt. I felt I had received my answer and as I study more and continue to learn, that answer has been confirmed many times over. More than anything else, I am a Mormon still today because I know the peace and joy following His Gospel brings. I know, too, the sorrow and unrest from NOT following His Gospel. I am so grateful for a loving Father who forgives us and welcomes us back without hesitation--whenever we ask, as long as we ask. I am SO indebted to His Son, Jesus Christ, for providing that way back through His atonement. Without Him, we would be lost, sorrowful and unrested. With him, we are found, peaceful and joyful.

How I live my faith

I am lucky enough to serve the youth in our area 18 months to 11 years old! I have so much fun organizing activities and groups for each child to participate on Sundays and some weekday activities. On Sundays, we sing and learn about Heavenly Father and Christ's love for us, His words in the scriptures and through Modern prophets and His gospel. On weekdays, the older children participate through scouting (for boys) and other activities (for girls). Each activity, we help the children understand how much Heavenly Father loves each of them and knows each of them. We help them feel His love and His Spirit and help them recognize when they feel it. My favorite time of year is when all the children gather together and sing for their families all the songs we've learned together. The Spirit is SO strong when little children bear testimony through word and song!
