Hi I'm Tyler

I'm a goofy kid that loves to laugh. I'm a musician, a teacher, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the oldest of 3 children. I'm an avid outdoorsman, my favorite activities being mountain biking and skiing. I'm a self-taught Piano player of 12 years, a Viola player of 10 years, and a high school choir singer. My dream would be to teach high school choir. I have two younger sisters and love spending time with my family. I'm a runner, having completed a full marathon in 2009, and I hope to complete more marathons in the future. I enjoy being around people, and I love to teach. Anyone who knows me will agree that I love to be silly and have a good time. I'm a very friendly, outgoing and energetic person who loves to laugh.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up going to church, but from a young age developed a love for the things I was taught, especially about where I came from and where I am going. As a child, I loved to think about me being a child of my Heavenly Father. As I got older, I appreciated that more, as I made mistakes and had struggles, I learned in a very real way that He loves me, no matter the things I'd done and could help me overcome any struggle. I read the Book of Mormon for the first time at age 17, and, in following the promise it contains that by reading it and asking God if it's true one would receive an answer, I came to know without a shadow of a doubt that it is true. Because I gained that knowledge, I know also that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that his is Christ's church restored to the earth once more. That knowledge has brought me a great sense of peace and direction as to how I should live my life. It helps me have a positive outlook when life gets hard, as I know that God will always love me and that I can draw strength and help from Him whenever I need it.

How I live my faith

I live my faith every day by looking for ways to serve others, be it something as simple as a smile or something involving a great deal of time and energy. I try to follow the example that Jesus Christ set by being kind, patient and loving, even when others may do the exact opposite. I try to apply what Paul taught in 1 Timothy 4:12 and "be...an example of the believers." I have had the opportunity to work with 11 year old boys in the Boy Scout program, helping them earn awards that will help them get their Eagle Scouts at an earlier age. I participate in a monthly visit to families from the local congregation where we share a simple scripture message and offer our time and talents to help those families. Currently, I'm serving as a missionary in Kentucky, which is a sacrifice we make to go out and share the knowledge we've gained and what that has meant to us and our families with people all around the world. That is a two year commitment, and we do that full time, devoting all our time and attention to that service. Providing this service has helped me to feel closer to Jesus Christ and feel more of his love for me and for all of God's children.
