Hi I'm Hyrum Mohring

I'm a dad. I work in construction. I have a wife & 2 kids so far. I'm a Bishop. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I work in Construction as a Contracts Administrator for Unitised Building. We build modular high rise buildings. Our company is made up of the rare combination of both Builders and Architects. I like my job. I met my wife Sarah through the church YSA Program. She is 1 year older than me to the day. We share a birthday on 26th June. We enjoy playing board games, going for walks with the children, and going for drives together. I am also a dad with 2 kids under the age of 2 years old. The best time of day is walking in the front door and having my 1.5 year old son Joseph run toward me speaking some excited babble and give me a hug. I also have a 6 month old daughter Lucy who has a gorgeous throwback of red hair and blue eyes and does not look anything like myself or my wife! I love the outdoors. My favourite pastimes usually involve camping, hiking, boating, bike riding, kayaking, and other outdoor activities. I especially enjoy sitting around of a hot camp fire and exchanging stories.

Why I am a Mormon

The gospel of Jesus Christ holds so much happiness for me. It gives me a reason behind life and provides answers that cannot be found elsewhere. Through the gospel of Jesus Christ I know who I am and my relationship to God. God answers my prayers whether I need some major blessing or miracle or whether I have lost something valuable like my car keys! I also know that this life is only a short sprint in the entire journey of our eternal life. I have very high hopes for my quality of life after death and the opportunity to still be united with my wife and kids in the next life. I have also developed a deep love for my Savior Jesus Christ, and understand that no matter what we have done or what situation we may have allowed ourselves to come into - through Him we can change, right what's wrong, and move forward in life!

How I live my faith

Our family attends the Footscray ward in the Wyndham Stake. I love to get involved with the church. I especially love working with the Youth! I am currently called or assigned as the Bishop of this ward this is completely voluntary. As bishop I have 2 councillors an together we have the opportunity to work with and help every member who comes to our chapel. Many people come to church from all walks of life with a large spectrum of challenges. We help combine the efforts of our individuals and organisations to assist in meeting these challenges. My favourite aspect of being Bishop would have to be feeling like I am being used by God to make a difference in people's lives.
