Hi I'm Charles

My wife and I have ten children between us, and I have almost twenty-two years of sobriety. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am sixty-seven years old, very happily married, and currently serve as an adult Sunday School teacher at church. I play the piano and enjoy listening to a broad variety of music. I love playing golf and taking road trips. We have nine grandchildren and look forward to some more.

Why I am a Mormon

My alcoholism was lifted by God in a miraculous manner and in response I promised to follow His lead. The Spirit led me to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I did not want to join the church, but as I read and listened, I found the doctrines of the church to be what I had looked for all my life. I have never regretted my choice to be baptized and to try to become a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

My current calling or assignment in our ward is to teach the adult Sunday School class. We discuss how scripture lessons from the Old and New Testaments, the Book of Mormon, or the Doctrine and Covenants relate to our lives and to our times. I find this fascinating and very helpful to my own spiritual growth. I also get to play the piano in some of the men's meetings. Being of service, however modestly, to our neighbors and our family always brings blessings and good feelings. Paying the tithe and making money donations to help those who are needy in our ward also blesses us, and serving in the temple always makes a difference in how I feel and in my ability to hear Heaven's promptings.
