Hi I'm Paul

I was a grip in the motion picture industry. During World War II, I served in the US Navy. I'm the father of 7. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

As a motion picture grip, my varied jobs included operating camera cranes and dollies for such great shows as Incredible Hulk and A Team. I have a spirit of adventure, and in my younger years flew an ultra-lite and climbed Mt Hood. I like to sing, perform, teach, and watch the birds at our feeders. I enjoy reading sea adventures and western novels. My favorite dessert is ice cream. During WW2, my friends and I enlisted in the Navy as soon as we were old enough, at 17. After the war, I trained as an actor, and enjoyed the productions I was able to perform in. I went back to college in my 30's and got my teaching credential. I taught high school drama for 10 years. I love visiting our 7 children in their various locations. Raised as an only child by my widowed mother, I enjoy having a big family. I enjoy discovering new things, such as worm farming, composting, anything computer.

Why I am a Mormon

My wife and I were baptized when we were in our 20's. I admired my friend who was a Mormon, and also my neighbor. When I had questions, they were able to give me plausible answers. Some of the teachings of the Church that I especially appreciated then, and still do, are: Jesus was concerned about others outside of the Holy Land. He visited the Americas as well as other areas Someone who has not had a chance to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ can hear it in the spirit world, and choose to accept or reject. God is more than just a Spirit Our leaders receive revelation, just as Moses did. And I can receive personal revelation in my areas of responsibility, including my family. With my acting background, I appreciated the fact that Mormon pioneers built a theater in the desert of Salt Lake City

How I live my faith

I've had many opportunities to serve in the Church, and each has been important to me. Over the past 55 years, I've been a teacher, choir member, family history consultant, and various leadership positions. My wife and I served missions together, taking us to different cultures. One of my favorite experiences involved creating an evening in Bethlehem in our church recreation hall. Many members of our congregation were involved in painting a floor to ceiling depiction of the streets of Bethlehem. Presently we are deeply involved in fostering community service and increased understanding among all people, including organized efforts to assist the elderly by cleaning up their yards. My faith is strong. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, my faith in Jesus Christ has grown immeasurably, through studying the scriptures, doctrine and history of the Church, through prayer and service to others, as well as through the assignments I've been given. My faith continues to grow. Jesus is my Savior.
