Hi I'm Dan

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in the suburbs of Detroit, and have spent the last 20-years in Arizona.

About Me

I'm a young grandfather of 2, with three children. I've spent the better part of the last 25 years working with computers (programming, desktop support, application support). I've been married for 26 years.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the gospel, and am excited to have it in my life. I wasted many years by not allowing Christ into my heart because of foolish stubborn pride, and wanting to know the answers to every single question I had about the scriptures, and the gospel. I wanted to be able to touch everything, and know everything without a shadow of doubt, and didn’t take anything on faith. What a waste of time. Well, one day three smart men sat me down and simply bore their testimonies, and shared their thoughts on scriptures. It was the most monumental day in my life, prior to being able to be sealed to my family for time and eternity. The Holy Ghost testified to me that day, the truth of the scriptures, and that everything I was being told was 100% true. It let me know that I would never know the answers to most of the questions I had while still on this earth, but that all would be made clear to me one day. I felt the truth that day, and it’s a feeling I can never explain away. I tried for a couple of months to rationalize what I felt, but there is no other explanation for what I felt. It was not simply a random thought in my head, but a feeling that took over my entire body. There is nothing on this earth I can compare it to. I know that the Book of Mormon is a true testament of the events that led up to the appearance of Jesus Christ on this continent. Joseph Smith studied the Bible frequently, but there is no way he could have “written” the Book of Mormon. He “translated” it through the power and guidance of Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost with the help of the Urim and Thummim. This could only have happened with divine guidance. Knowing that, the rest of it simply falls into place, and can't be denied.

How I live my faith

I currently work as the financial clerk in my ward, and have the blessing of dealing with the Lord's money every week. It's amazing how generous people of faith can be with no guarantee of any kind of return for their generosity. I also serve as a home teacher, which is a responsibility I've been given to serve multiple families in our ward. It brings great joy into my life to have these blessings available to me.
