Hi I'm Rick

I'm a pretty normal guy....normal job.....normal family.....normal hobbies......and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Los Angeles to first generation Dutch/Indonesian imegrants. My folks moved to America with $200 to their name and their earthly belongings in a large trunk. They worked hard to make a good life for me and my sisters. I grew up in Northern California and a very normal childhood. A jack of all trades/master of none when it came to sports and schooling. But I had good friends and a happy childhood. At 19 I was called to serve a two year mission for my church to Northern England. It was the experience of a lifetime. When I returned I married an amazing women and we have 4 great kids. I worked 21 years for a great company called Chem-Dry. I worked in the headquarters helping franchisees grow thier businesses. Great people, great business. My family and I spent 5 great years living in England with the business. It was a wonderful experience. We live in Arizona now. We love the weather here!

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 10 we became members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. More than any other, that life choice changed the course of my future. I consider myself blessed that the Lord saw fit to intersect my life in this crucial and critical way. When I was 14 years old I had a simple but profound spiritual experience. I came to know through the Spirit that Joseph Smith saw God the Father and Jesus Christ in answer to his simple prayer. My life has been a relatively easy one. I've never had a major illness. I've never lost anyone close to me. Most things have been handed to me on a silver platter. But I know that my challenges will come some day......they do to everyone. And when they do, I know that my family, my faith and my friends will be there to hold me up and strengthen me.

How I live my faith

I just try to be a good person. I go to church every Sunday and my family and I have prayers together every day. My faith guides my decisions and my family is the most important thing in the world to me.
