Hi I'm Phil

I am an educator, business owner, a Rotarian, married to my best friend and father to four wonderful children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have a twin brother. We talk to each other by phone nearly every day. Unfortunately, he lives in Washington State while I endure the heat in Arizona. We're clearly not identical. He has a headful of hair and I don't! My wife and I enjoy taking early morning walks and watching wholesome movies. She has been my best friend now for over 39 years. It seems impossible but my love for her keeps growing as we enter the twilight of our lives. In February, our thirteenth grandchild will arrive. There're nothing more fulfilling than watching your children raise their own.

Why I am a Mormon

In my late teens, I met a young lady who introduced me to the gospel. At the time, I thought Mormon women wore bonnets and the men wore beards! The gospel principle that most inspired me was the belief that families can be together forever. That made so much sense to me then and I now know it to be true! I've also realized the positive impact that the church and its teaching have had on my family. The church becomes a safe haven from the evils of our day. I'm certain that teaching correct principles and setting a positive example has influenced our chidren to become responsible loving parents and contributing members of society.

How I live my faith

I am a bishop. With this call, comes commitment to serve others and bring them closer to Christ. It has been a thrill to witness the Atonement change lives. I also am a member of Rotary, a world-wide organization whose creed is "service above self." Last year, I was the president of my local club. This year I've devoted my time and energy in assisting high school kids with service-related projects in our community.
