Hi I'm John

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 54 years old. My wife and I have six children and our tenth grandchild will be born this November. I have been self employed for the past 31 years. My hobbies are mountain biking, playing with my children and grandchildren, and reading the scriptures. I am a convert to the Church and have been a member for 25 years.

Why I am a Mormon

In the back of the Book of Mormon is this direction, "And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost." I studied the Book of Mormon and prayed for two months for the Lord to manifest the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon to me. I think the Lord wanted to make sure I was sincere. I know that my Father in Heaven lives. I know that He chooses to be called our Father, because He loves us like a Father. I know that His son Jesus Christ also lives, and that He loves us. Jesus Christ came to earth to be an example and to show us a better way to live, to teach us how to love and serve each other, and to Atone for our sins. I know that the Holy Ghost lives and is a member of the Godhead. The Holy Ghost testified to me the truthfulness of Heavenly Father, and of His Son Jesus Christ, and testified the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon as another witness of Jesus Christ. I also know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, called as a young boy just as Samuel in the Old Testament. And, just as the Lord used Noah to build the Arc to save his animals from the flood, and Moses to rescue the Lord's children from Egypt, the Lord used Joseph Smith to translate the Book of Mormon and to restore the fullness of His Gospel to the earth. I also know that we are led by a Prophet of God today. I value my testimony above any worldly gift and feel blessed the Lord is willing to testify to each of us individually the truthfulness of these things.

How I live my faith

I have served in many positions in the Church over the last 25 years. I currently serve in a more administrative position. The opportunities I have enjoyed the most have been when I have had the opportunity to serve others. To see brothers and sisters in the Church grow closer to their Savior and to each other in love is a very rewarding experience. I live my faith by daily scripture study. The gift of the Holy Ghost as spoken of in the New Testament is real. I study daily to seek that gift and the Holy Ghost's guidance and comforting influence. I've found that not only is our Father in Heaven willing to answer our prayers concerning the truthfulnesss of His Son Jesus Christ, and of the Book of Mormon, but Heavenly Father is willing to be a daily part of our lives, helping us in all things we do. My relationship with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ has brought me strength during temptations and trials, joy in each day, and love. I live my faith by sharing my experiences and testimony, that they may bring others to Jesus Christ.
