Hi I'm Ramona

I'm a single mother of six children. I'm an English major and a Technical Writer/Applications Developer. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a single mother of six active children. I like supporting them in their activities--Boy Scouts, sports, school plays, etc. I enjoy road biking, hiking, and appreciating the wonders of God's creations. I also like to learn new things and create beauty (drawing, gardening, etc.).

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because a loving friend and his family cared about me and had the courage to share their beliefs with me while I was serving in the military. I was far from home and active in my own church there, but something still felt like it was missing. Missing pieces started to fall into place as I learned about what the Mormons believe. The doctrine answered questions I had while the Spirit helped me feel the truth. It made sense to my mind and my heart.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in my family, church, and community. At home, we gather as a family to have morning and evening family prayers, we read out of the scriptures a little every day, and one night a week we have a family night--what we call family home evening--where we have a mini-lesson, sing songs, have an activity (swimming, a board game, a movie), and a treat (my children's favorite part). At church, I currently serve as a Sunday School teacher. I teach those who are investigating the Church, those who are new members, and those who are serving as missionaries in my ward. I also serve as a visiting teacher--I go to the homes of several sisters in the church, visit with them, and see if they need help with anything. One woman I visit is elderly and doesn't drive any more, so sometimes I take her shopping or to watch the sunset at the beach. In the community, I help clean up schools and parks. I volunteer at different activities where help is needed.
