Hi I'm Tyler

I played soccer for 13 years, including 1 year of college. I love the Savior, my family, and college football. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

If I had an entire Saturday off in the fall I could watch college football all day long. Of course, being from Nebraska I am a Cornhusker fan. And, for no reason whatsoever, besides the fact that they're awesome, I love the Boise State Broncos. I'm also a student majoring in the field of Atmospheric Science. Someday I hope to be a weather forecaster in the National Weather Service. Growing up I used to watch Cumulonimbus clouds tower over our small town. Today I understand the dynamics of formation and storm motion. I find it fascinating and have made it my passion for my career. In my spare time I love playing flag football, soccer, basketball... pretty much anything with sports. I also love Oreo cookies. So if I didn't play sports I would probably be really fat. My wife and I married a few years ago. She already had 2 wonderful children and I adopted them as my own. Today we have two more of our own. I love them all and they continue to make me a better man every day.

Why I am a Mormon

My former church has many wonderful people who love the Savior and I'm grateful for my spiritual upbringing in that environment. But I found more here in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It really is the true church. Growing up I heard a lot of bad things about the "Mormon" church. But as I began to investigate the church I asked God if the things I heard were really true. I found out, through studying it out in my own mind and through prayer, that every bad thing I heard wasn't true, and that other things were taken completely out of context. That is the work of Satan. It became clear that the fruits of the church were sweet and good, and that no other church could help me grow closer to the Savior than this one. My former church brought me far; but this was the true church, headed by Jesus Christ, our Savior. I would invite everyone to meet the missionaries and ask for themselves whether the things they teach are true. It will be the greatest blessing you will ever receive.

How I live my faith

Ultimately, I try to do as the Savior instructed when he said "If ye love me, keep my commandments". This has prompted me to serve a widow who recently lost her husband. I called a youth member who had nothing to do and we went and cleaned her back yard, repaired some things around her home, and installed a new garage door opener with the help of another member. We visit with her every month to make sure her children and dogs are doing okay. Nothing humbles me more than serving other people and I love my calling of stewardship with that family. The thing I love about the church is all the stories of miracles you hear that occur because someone followed a prompting from the Holy Ghost and helped someone who really needed it. My testimony is strengthened every day as I do the things the Lord commands. What a happy life I live because of it.
