Hi I'm Melissa

I am a wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. I am creative and love the outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mom of two young kids. Most of my time is spent taking care and loving them. Someone told me once that the days go slow and the years go fast when raising kids, so true. When I do make time for myself I enjoy reading, knitting, blogging. I have a goal to one day finish my college degree. I would be the first one on my dad's side to earn a college degree. I would like to teach but in an alternative setting, such as troubled youth or teen mom's or children with learning disabilities. My husband and I have been married for 4 years. We are best friends. We enjoy setting goals for our future. We are dreamers who want to give our kids the best life we can.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon, because the Gospel is true. I know what it is like to live with out the Gospel. I thought I was happy and empowered until personal choices led me to a dark time when i needed to know for myself wether the Gospel was true. I remember feeling that it was a turning point in my life. I needed to decide who I was and how I was going to live. It was a lonely journey, but in this time I was able to clear my head, pray, read and study the scriptures and ponder what I was learning. Being pushed out of my past comfort zone was hard but I knew I was going in the right direction. I remember this time as a time of clarity. There were not many distractions. I learned to listen to the Holy Ghost. I learned to sincerely pray. I began for one of the first times in my life to truly love who I was. I learned that my Heaven Father loved me completely, flaws and all. I learned that our Heavenly Father wants us to be happy. He has laid out a clear plan for us to follow so that we can be. If we follow the Gospel we will find true happiness. I would never go back to living with out the Gospel. My marriage is stronger because of the Gospel principles. I am a better mom, sister, friend and neighbor because I chose to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I could not make it through this life with out it.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in everything I do. I am a visiting teacher, which means each month i meet with a couple sisters from church to make sure they are doing ok, talk about what's going on in their lives and teach a short gospel centered lesson. I help in the Primary, which is where LDS children learn about Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. We plan activities, lessons, games and much more for the children I love working with the children, they are such a bright spot in my life. I look forward to being with them every Sunday. My faith helps me make choices everyday. It defines who I am.
