Hi I'm Jared.

I'm married to an amazing motocross girl, have four awesome kids, love to travel, am a financial professional, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm married to a Motocross girl and father of four - one of which is on the way. I love just about any sport out there, love to build things (decks, kid's beds, furniture, you name it), love to travel (been to all 50 states, most of them several times. Europe a few times, south america, and canada. Hope to travel internationally more in the future), love being with my family, and do some financial planning on the side. We have been in Fort Collins, Colorado for 5 years and love it.

Why I am a Mormon

It just makes sense to me. That doesn't mean I understand everything yet, but when I study certain topics, it is clear. Having modern day revelation and additional scripture help clear up what are confusing topics, such as the Godhead, the purpose of life, the afterlife, etc.

How I live my faith

I attend our weekly meeting regularly and help teach the young men, ages 14-16 in our ward. I enjoy being with the youth and helping them during such a challenging moment of their life. Being involved with the youth, I also help out with Scouts, which help teach the boys important life lessons. We go on monthly camp-outs where we can serve others, learn from each other, and enjoy nature, which is great since we live in such a beautiful state like CO. I spent two years inTorreon, Mexico as a missionary for the LDS church. I loved talking to the beautiful people of Mexico about the Gospel. I think the best way to live my faith is how I interact with everyone, not just people of my faith. I try to be as much like the Savior as I can and love everyone.

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

The main reason why we don't drink coffee, tea, or alcohol is because God commanded us not to. If God tells me I shouldn't do something, I try not to. You can make many arguments why God commanded us not to - that we will be healthier, not controlled by substances, gain more control of ourselves, etc. Each point is true and speaks for itself. But even deeper than that, in my opinion, is we learn to be obedient to our Maker and we become more like Him. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Joseph Smith is very important to the history of mankind. He gave all he could to help the Gospel go forward. I only wish I could be half of the man Joseph Smith was. However, we do not worship him. We only worship God the Father and His son Jesus Christ. God will save us, not Joseph Smith. Show more Show less

What is the role of the husband and the wife in the family?

All people should be treated as equals, not only with race, but with sex as well. That doesn't mean we can't each have different roles in a family. In many ways, men are different than women. That doesn't mean one is better than the other, they're just different. I believe God made us that way. I believe that is one reason why having both sexes in a marriage help raise a child properly. I can't do many of the things my wife can, and vise-versa. My wife takes care of the day to day needs of the house. I try and provide for my family. However, that doesn't mean I can't help take care of the house, nor does it mean my wife can't help provide money for the family. There are circumstances where that can't happen. Not all families are the same, and you have to cope with you're surroundings. The bottom line is both man and woman should care and love their children. We should teach our kids not only things that will help them be successful in society, but teach them the Gospel as well. Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

Perhaps some people think we're not Christians because we don't have the exact same beliefs of Christ as they do. In that sense, they are correct. We know Christ to be a completely separate person than God the Father. Through additional revelation, there are some things that separate our beliefs from others. Yet, we believe in the same person, even Jesus Christ, and we worship Him. We believe that only through Christ will we be saved. We follow Christ and try to follow His teachings - so in my opinion, that makes me a Christian. Even within different Christian denominations, there are differences in their beliefs; yet it is OK for each of them to claim they are Christian. Show more Show less

Where did Mormonism and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints begin?

In the truest sense, it started thousands of years ago. Mormonism is not an offshoot of another religion. It is a church that is restored from earlier times. It is the same church that Christ set up during his mortal life on earth. Like the primitive church of long ago,we too, have prophets and apostles. The restoration in these times started when heavenly father and Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph smith. With further instruction, joseph smith eventually was a tool in god's hands in restoring christ's church on earth. On April 6th, 1830, the church of Jesus Christ was officially restored. It is called the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints because it describes the church in this era and distinguishes it from older times. Show more Show less

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

It depends on the elders or sisters and the circumstances. Although they will probably like to talk about sports, work, family, and other topics to get to know you better, they will ultimately discuss the gospel of Jesus Christ. They will answer any questions you have about the gospel and the church. Missionaries love talking to others that are interested in learning more. Having missionaries over doesn't mean you have to become a member. It allows you to learn more about heavenly father's plan of happiness and will teach you what you should do to be happier in life. Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

The reason why we are on earth is to become more like our Heavenly Father. We do this by learning important life lessons on a daily basis. Probably the best way to learn is by doing. The student doesn't learn quite as well as if he is only lectured. It's only when he starts doing the lessons on his own that he gets better at it. In my opinion, that is one of the main reasons we don't have a paid clergy. When we volunteer our time and talents to the Church, we learn important lessons. We take time to prepare lessons to teach others. In preparing, we seem to learn more than just being in the class. We also learn to love others more when we are working with them. In serving others, we become more like Christ. We are able to help others in need. One of the keys to the Gospel is implementing into daily life. That is where you are truly tested and show what your convictions really are. Our clergy have normal jobs and have the same struggles as we do. Thus, they are able to relate more to us and can probably help us better. Show more Show less

How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

It seems like pornography is everywhere. It's not just about going to an inappropriate internet site, or buying a dirty magazine. It's in ads, on TV, newspapers, and it will be in your face, even if you don't want it to be. Everyone will be exposed to it. The key is turning it off immediately, leaving a movie, or whatever means necessary to not let it linger. Pornography not only hurts the viewer, but loved ones as well. I approach it the same as I did when I would take out clients for work and they'd suggest going to a strip club. I'd ask them, "how would you feel if your daughter, sister, or other loved one was the girl in the club?" They usually would rethink their choice. Same with porn. This is someone's loved one that we are encouraging to continue making a poor choice. Think of your family when you feel inclined to view something inappropriate. Put a picture of them on your computer if you struggle with this. Look at the small box on a movie rating. It will mention what content is in the movie. If there is nudity, do not view it. Like most poor habits, once you start, it is difficult to stop, so don't start. I've seen too many people around me have their life ruined by pornography. It will only ruin your life. Don't be deceived. Show more Show less
