Hi I'm Cameron McPheters

I'm an Idahoan, a Bluegrass Guitar player, Ballroom dancer, Bible Belt Missionary in the South Carolina Mission, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in December of 1991 and am currently serving a mission in South Carolina. I grew up in the Church of Jesus Christ in Latter Day Saints but that didn't secure a conversion for me, I had to gain my own testimony because they don't come easy nor do they come free. I have had to go through hard times just like everyone else, from financial difficulties with my family to not knowing where to go next in life. I am in love with the guitar, everything from the shape to the sound of the guitar, I spent and will spend many hours playing my guitar when I return from my mission. I enjoy playing Bluegrass and Country, I am one of the few that loves Country music. I am an avid Ballroom Dancer, I have been dancing since I was 2 1/2 years old and I love the feel of the movements and the emotion that's put into each step. I am a Major in Psychology, the portion of knowledge of knowing why and how a human being goes about their day and why has drawn me ever closer to that and to Christ as I have had experiences that make me want and thirst for more knowledge of why people are the way they are. I'm proudly a Mormon and I let all know it.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into an amazing LDS family and I was baptized when I was 8 years old. I had to go through a conversion just like everyone else. When I was a freshman in high school I had a shaking experience, I lost my best friend to bullying. He ended his life in the middle of that year. During that time my mind was racked with pain, I had lost my best friend and I didn't know if I was ever going to get to see him again, so I decided to ask God what was going to happen and if I was going to get to see him again. I picked up my Book of Mormon that before I had just read, but with a purpose and with intent I studied the Book of Mormon and asked my questions. I had a calm peaceful feeling come over me that I will see my friend again and that we will know each other when I see him again. After reading I noticed that where I had been reading was talking about building a boat. The Book of Mormon holds a special spirit, that spirit is the Holy Ghost, the same Holy Ghost that Jesus Christ gave to His apostles by the laying on of his hands and by the authority of God. I have gotten to experience many other conversions of my own and I have fallen of course like everyone else does, sin happens, but it's what we do when we sin that matters. Kneel down when you can no longer stand, and pray to God when your life is too hard. When life is going great, kneel down out of gratitude and tell Him how much you love him and care for him, blessings will come so greatly that you won't be able to count them.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving a mission in the South Carolina Columbia Mission and I am so grateful for the opportunity to be serving here. I show God my love for Him by reading the doctrine and the words that he has given to us so that we can learn and grow closer to Him. The Bible is true and the Book of Mormon is true as well, I am a living witness and I will always stand by it because He blessed me with an answer to my questions and now I will follow Him. I attend church regularly, yes all 3 hours of church, because He has commanded us to meet together as a group and families so I will follow Him. I love to do service for anyone and everyone, I will do anything from cutting wood to re-siding and roofing a house, I am most happy when I see someone else smiling.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Cameron McPheters
The Missionaries will share a message that you will recognize. Deep down inside you will know it's true if you pray about it and read the Book of Mormon. I know that the missionaries that are going to be talking with you might be young, but the Holy Ghost will be speaking with you, not these young men. This message is all about Christ and His atonement for us, how He loves us still, and how He shows us that He loves us by giving us a prophet like Moses or Noah. That is good news. Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Cameron McPheters
We don't worship Joseph Smith, we are grateful for the sacrifices that he made to restore Christ's gospel into His church. Joseph Smith was a prophet just as Moses or Noah, but we are the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, not the church of Joseph Smith. Christ commanded that His church be named after Him so we are named after HIm. Show more Show less
