Hi I'm Alex

I grew up in the Heart of Mormonism. I listen to, write, and play hard rock music and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hey everybody! I'm 20 years old and loving life. Currently I'm serving as an LDS missionary in Tacoma, Washington. It's the greatest feeling in the world to know that you're helping people come closer to their Savior. In what little free time I've got, I play on my acoustic guitar and write songs that might relate to others so they can be uplifted by my music. You don't always have to give up what you enjoy most to serve the Lord.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Church, but I had my own conversion when I was about 17. I was really struggling in my school work and life in general. I had some problems that I was struggling to overcome. My "friends" weren't helping much, in fact, they were actually leading me away from the truth. Eventually I had to say, "That's it, I'm done" and walk away from these people I thought were my closest friends. I began to pray earnestly for people to come into my path that would help me become closer to God. When I was junior in high school I met a kid named Tony. He and I hit it off instantly. We became the closest of friends and although he wasn't a member, he still held true to standards and morals he had set for himself. Eventually, he came into contact with some of the missionaries in our area, and he decided to take the lessons. I sat in on most of these lessons and say Tony progress, and watched his faith increase with every meeting. In a way, as he was taking the lessons, my faith was increasing also; and even though I had grown up learning these principles, I felt like they meant a whole lot more in my time of need. Tony accepted the commitment to be baptized by someone holding the proper authority, and he chose me to perform the ordinance. I graciously accepted, and be that time I knew that this was what the church was really about. Bringing people close to Christ, and helping them make progress in the gospel.

How I live my faith

Well, at the moment, I'm out serving the Lord by knocking on people's doors, and trying to introduce them to the truth. It's so amazing to see the light grow in someones eyes when they realize the truthfulness of the Gospel. I try my hardest to live the commandments God has give to us, and we teach these commandments to the people who need to know about them. I love this Gospel and do my best to live it to the fullest every single day.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

To start with, no we do not worship Joseph Smith. I always think that it a little bit funny when I get asked this question. I mean, there aren't alot of religions that worship a singlular prophet from the Bible, or even the founder/reformer that they base the relegion off of. For example, Lutherans don't worship Martin Luther. Christ said that his church would be called in his name, our churchs full name isn't the Church of Joseph Smith, or the Church of Moses. It's Christ's church it is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Show more Show less
