Hi I'm Ian

I'm a Californian. I'm an avid sports fan. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live in California. I recently returned from serving a mission in the Texas San Antonio Mission. I love playing sports. I played basketball and baseball in high school. I'm an eagle scout. Before my mission I attended college for a year and will return to study accounting. One of my favorite things to do is to spend time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church and my family has been members of the church for years. I always believed that this was Jesus Christ's church, but that didn't become a known fact for me until I seriously read and prayed about the Book of Mormon. After I decided that the Book of Mormon was true and prayed for a confirmation to my decision I received a witness from the Holy Spirit that it was the word of God. In the introduction of the Book of Mormon there is a promise given to those who come to know that the book is true. It promises that those who come to know that the Book of Mormon is true "...will also come to know by the same power that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world, that Joseph Smith is his revelator and prophet in these last days, and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord's kingdom once again established on the earth preparatory to the second coming of the Messiah." I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that Joseph Smith was called by God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ to restore the gospel of Jesus Christ and His church. This knowledge has provided me with peace and satisfaction in knowing that I am doing what my Father in Heaven wants me to do. I also know that as my family and I live the gospel of Jesus Christ we will be able to live together forever.

How I live my faith

I have gained a love for the word of God, especially the Book of Mormon, through my study of the scriptures. I do my best to live the principles that Jesus Christ taught. I attend church faithfully every Sunday, however to me that isn't enough to just go to church but I do it in order to better live the gospel of Jesus Christ.

What is the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is a book of scripture written by prophets who lived on the American continent thousands of years ago. It begins with a prophet by the name of Lehi who lived in Jerusalem around 600 B.C. He was commanded by God to take his family and those who would listen across the sea to the American continent. The Book of Mormon is about their journey and the dealings with God that they and others had in the American continent. The crowning event of the Book of Mormon is when Christ appears to the people after His ressurection in Jersusalem. It contains the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is called the Book of Mormon because one of the last prophets in the Book of Mormon was named Mormon and he compiled the records into one book. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

We believe that the Atonement of Jesus Christ and His grace is absolutely necessary for salvation. However, Jesus Christ does not eliminate our personal responsibility. We still need to exercise faith in him and repent of our sins. We also must perform ordinances, or sacred ceremonies, such as baptism in order to return to live with our Father in Heaven. We unlock the blessings of Christ's grace and mercy as we live the principles and ordinances of the gospel. Show more Show less

Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the official name of the church. Mormons is a nickname given us because we believe the Book of Mormon, along with the Bible, to be the word of God. Show more Show less
