Hi I'm Cheryl

I'm a wife and the mother of four beautiful daughters. I am a real estate educator. I am a convert to the Church. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife and a mother of four beautiful and amazing daughters and have two wonderful sons-in-law. I love to read, shop, hike, ski, cook, decorate, and entertain family and friends. We love to play games as a family and to ride rollercoasters. I have been involved in the residential mortgage and real estate industries for the past 12 years.

Why I am a Mormon

I was adopted when I was 6 weeks old by a wonderful and loving Christian couple who longed for children. I was their only child. When I was 4 1/2 years old, my angel mother died from a brain tumor. My poor, distaught father reamrried when I was 6 years old, and he didn't know what to do to provide care for me, as they were both working full-time. My dad had gone to the Oakland Temple open house many years before in 1963 and had felt powerfully the Spirit of the Lord and was greatly impressed with the focus on families the Church had. He found an LDS family that lived close by that was willing to babysit me before and after school every day. It was from them that I was introduced to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. My first missionary was this family's 6 year old daughter, who taught me that I could not only see my mother again, but that we could be a Forever Family. The power of the truths she taught me seared through me like electricity. I instantly knew she taught me the truth and I longed to learn more. She also taught me that I am a child of God, and that He knew me and loved me. Not knowing who my biological parents were and missing my mother, this doctrine also penetrated my heart like nothing I had ever heard before. She taught me the song "I am a Child of God," and my heart recoginized the eternal truths taught in that song. My dad would not allow me to join the Church until I was almost 11 years old, though I longed to be baptized at age 8. During that time, my learning of the doctrines Gospel increased. Finally, my dad allowed the missionaries to come and teach me. I joyfully and enthusiastically accepted their invatiation to be baptized, and I was baptized 5 days before my 11th birthday. I have been a member of the Church ever since.

How I live my faith

I absolutely love my ward and my Stake. I served the adult women in our Stake in a leadership capacity for 4 1/2 years. I now teach the adult Gospel Doctrine Sunday School class. I try hard to live the principles of the Gospel and to teach my children to love and serve each other and their friends. I have grown tremendously as I have served in a variety of capacities through the years. I have learned leadership skills and to love others and to see them as Christ does. I find strength in the scriptures and by attending the temple. I find peace and unparalleled joy by living the Gospel. I know for myself that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true. It brings incredible happiness to my life and joy and richness to my relationships with my husband and my children.
