Hi I'm Jacob

I am studying TESOL at BYU. I love history, blueberries, and everything Thai. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I just graduated from BYU with a major in English language and linguistics and minors in TESOL and Spanish. I will start my master's at BYU in TESOL this fall. I want to teach reading and writing to students who are learning English and preparing to enter universities in America. I also love teaching English grammar! I am a returned missionary from the Thailand Bangkok mission. I enjoy everything Thai. I love the food, the language, the culture, and everything in between. I love reading, writing, swimming, biking, baking. I am very opinionated and love to make my opinions known. Writing in the readers' forum of the newspaper is one of my favorite pastimes. I have played the piano for the past 10 years and I love music. History, particularly Mormon, cultural and American history, is of great interest to me. I am currently enrolled at BYU. I grew up in a Mormon household with six well-accomplished siblings. I am the uncle of 11 amazing nieces and nephews.

Why I am a Mormon

When Christ was asked by Nicodemus how a man could be born again, he was dissapointed by Christ's response. Christ calls us to a higher plane of discipleship. I am a Mormon because Mormonism is beautiful in calling us to that plane. The joy in Mormonism comes from knowing that I have a divine heritage as a son of God. As such, I must remember not to sell my birthright for a mess of pottage. I am Mormon because the Atonement has taken on personal meaning as I have changed my heart. The Restored doctrines that make Mormonism unique take on personal meaning for my life as I live my life in harmony with Gospel principles.

How I live my faith

I am the choir pianist in my congregation. I believe that music enhances our worship in profound ways. I frequently share the gospel by trying to be a good example to my friends and neighbors. I also strive to treat others as our Heavenly Parents would treat them. As children of a Heavenly Father and a Heavenly Mother, I believe that we all have a divine heritage and a divine potential.
