Hi I'm Vickie

I'm a Mormon. I live in a small town in Washington State and I am a amateur genealogist.

About Me

I am the mother of 4 boys all grown now. 3 are married and I have 5 grandchildren with 1 more on the way. My husband is a meatcutter. We have been married 32 years. I love tracing my family history and have been helping others trace theirs for many years. I enjoy gardening and putting up the produce from our garden.

Why I am a Mormon

I enjoy being a Mormon because it is a way of life. The doctrines of the Church are true and all make sense of this life: where we came from, why we are here and where we are going after we leave this mortal existence. I love the idea that my family is an eternal family and that we will be together after this life. The Book of Mormon helps clarify all the truths of the Bible and adds to them to make the teachings of the Bible make more sense and be more complete. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that Joseph Smith was given the charge to translate it. It is wonderful to know that we have Apostles and Prophets upon the earth today just as they did in the Old Testament and New Testament times. Today President Thomas S. Monson is the Prophet of the Mormon church and we can look to him for guidance and direction on how to live our lives and how to avoid the many pitfalls that may come to us in this life. The main reason I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon) is because the Holy Ghost has whispered to my heart that the doctrines and principles of this gospel are true and because I know that I cannot follow any other path in my life.

How I live my faith

I have a responsibility over the genealogy work in our congregation. I work in a Family History Center helping people find their ancestors and I do genealogy for people that would like my help. Members of the church and nonmembers of the church alike. I spend several hours a week in service to others doing this. I am also involved with the teenage youth of our Stake. I am what is called a Stake Seminary Supervisor and I help the Seminary teachers in our Stake (a group of several congregations) who teach youth ages 14-18 each morning before school. In this calling I visit the classes and also organize a fun scripture night once a year and the Seminary graduation for those 18 who are graduating after 4 years of Seminary. I also organize training sessions for the teachers once a month. I enjoy meeting with the youth. We have wonderful group of young people in our Stake. I also try to visit our temple once a week. This is the highlight of my week. I love spending time in the temple away from the cares of the world and be able to feel the spirit and seek guidance and direction for my life.
