Hi I'm Chris

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 28 years old, married (no kids). I received my BS in Biology about a year ago and am currently in Pharmacy school. I enjoy hiking, swimming, working out, playing video games, and watching movies.

Why I am a Mormon

I was taught growing up that the Book of Mormon was true and that Joesph Smith was a true prophet, that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was God’s church. That it had been restored through Joseph Smith. I was also taught that people who did not know of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon, Joseph Smith’s prophetic mission, or of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints could ask God and He would answer them. I found myself thinking one day that I had never even read the entire Book of Mormon nor asked God if it was true.I decided to read the Book of Mormon and then ask Heavenly Father if it was true, I had faith that He would answer me. At 14 Joseph Smith went into a grove of trees and asked God which church to join and as a result, Heavenly Father, and Jesus Christ appeared and told Joseph that no church on the earth at that time was recognized as His, but that soon, His church would be restored to the earth. Like Joseph Smith, I went into nature to seek an answer to my question. I brought with me the book and my dog Mike. When I thought I was far enough away from the road and any houses, I got down on my knees and asked if The Book of Mormon is true. Then I waited for the angel to come to tell me that it was true. No one came. I knelt down again and asked, and waited for something to happen, a voice, or some kind of visitation to take place. After waiting for a few minutes, with no huge event taking place, I got up and started back home, a little discouraged that no miraculous experience had taken place. Then as I was walking home, a voice, but more like a voice that came into my mind said, “You already know that it is true.” It was then that I realized that Heavenly Father had witnessed to me the truthfulness of the things I had been asking all my life, and that I did know. My testimony had not come from the result of one experience on my knees, but by hundreds of experiences throughout my life.

How I live my faith

The Lord continues to witness the truthfulness of his gospel to me all the time. As a missionary, I shared with people the story of Joseph Smith’s first vision many times. One particular time, after sharing the story, I was touched by the spirit and I had one of those moments where I again felt that yes, this is true. Even though I already knew, He reminded me, and confirmed that what I was telling these people was in fact true. Even now as I type this, I can feel that what I am writing is true. My hope in writing this is that whoever reads this will be touched by the spirit and want to find out for themselves, or have a renewing of their own testimony that the Book of Mormon is in fact another testament of Jesus Christ, and that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God called to restore the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day saints. Along with being a missionary I have also served in the church in diffferent capacities, for example my wife and I help teach free english classes to people in our area who were new to the United States. This class was held at the church.
