Hi I'm Beryl

I grew up in southern California and in Colorado. I'm an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married and have four children. I have three daughters and one son. My son is married so I have inherited another daughter. I love to spend time with my family and I love flyfishing. I love the direction that my faith gives me and my family. We understand that families can be together even after we die. This gives me great peace in my life. I need spiritual direction and the teachings of my Mormon faith provide that for me.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (The "Mormon" Church). We were not always active in church when I was young, so when I was old enough to go on my own I did. I always have felt that because I sought out the truthfulness of the church on my own I've been blessed with a strong testimony of its truthfulness. I feel that you have to invest a significant portion of yourself in search of truth to know that this is the Lord's church. I know that it is the true church because I've made the necessary sacrifices in my life to know that it is true. I've read and studied the Book of Mormon and I know it contains the word of God and I also know that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that the Lord used him to restore His church. I know that Jesus Christ is my personal Savior and that through His sufferring I can be cleansed of my sins. I know that we have a living prophet today and that he can share with us what the Lord wants us to know for our time.

How I live my faith

One of the great blessings of our church is that the members get to serve in positions in the church. We do not have a paid ministry, so all the members get an opportunity to serve in various capacities. I currently serve with a group of men called the High Council. This Council helps make important decisions at the local level of our church. I've had many other opportunities to serve in the church which has helped me to keep balance in my life. Our church teaches that certain daily habits such as prayer and scripture study help us strengthen our spirituality. I try my best to do the daily things to follow Jesus Christ. I will admit that I sometimes have struggles like everyone else but the gospel teachings and the gift of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ help me overcome my weaknesses. We believe in our church that the family is the basic unit of the gospel and we strive to do those things in our family that help build family unity and establish a home that can be a shelter from the evils of the world.
