Hi I'm Zane

I'm a husband, father and grandpa. I work as a software build engineer and have been a scoutmaster for many years.

About Me

I was born and raised in Southeastern Idaho. I served a mission in upstate New York and participated in the Hill Cumorah Pageant. After my mission I received a degree in Computer Science from BYU. I have worked in Arizona and now reside in Western Washington. I collect and love to play table games (board, card or dice ) from all over the world. I am often referred to as the "Game Master" by my friends and family. I have a hobby of play testing games before they are released. I also like to play disc golf as often as I can. I also enjoy cooking and creating recipes using most aspects of cooking and cookware. I have been married for over 30 years to a wonderful lady and we have four daughters. Two of them are married and live a few states away and two are still at home. I have two grandson's who are the joy of my life. I have served in the Boy Scouts of America for a very long time and I enjoy it. In the Church I have always been involved with the youth and it has been very rewarding. I work as a software developer/build engineer and have worked for several companies as a contractor over the past two years. I enjoy working in an IT environment and develping software. I hope to retire someday and serve a mission with my wife and enjoy my grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

I have a very rich Mormon heritage and have been a member since I turned 8 years old. Both of my parent's lines go back to the early days of the church when they came over from Europe and moved west to Salt Lake Valley with wagons and handcarts. I have a deep feeling of respect, love and gratitude for all they did. I want to keep my heritage alive and strong. I have studied other religions and respect them greatly. However the Mormon Church (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) is the only one that brings peace to my mind and heart. I am amazed that the Savior (Jesus Christ) was willing to suffer so greatly in the Garden of Gethsemane and on the cross, He did so that I can overcome both physical and spiritual death and be with my Heavenly Father once again, and that he cares for all of us so much. His atonement has blessed my life many times and helped me to overcome many trials. I have literally felt His atoning sacrifice in my life and know that he lives and loves me. The Church's programs have been a blessing in my personal and family life and kept us united in the things we plan and do. It helps me as a husband to my spouse and as a father to my children and grand children. I am a good citizen to my community and country and try to be involved therein. I am currently studying the Old and New Testament of the Bible and the Book of Mormon. These books have touched my life and helped me with decisions many times and I know them to be true. I'm a Mormon because this church makes sense and contains the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The member's, as a whole, try very hard to live their lives as Jesus lived his and want to return to Him and the Father someday. It keeps us grounded in a world that is becoming more and more confused every day. Jesus Christ is my Savior and I love Him.

How I live my faith

I serve the youth in our ward (congregation) and have done so for many years. I have pretty much been involved with the youth, in one way or another, since I've been an adult. They have been a blessing in my life and have strengthened me many times. They can be challenging at times; however things always seem to work out and we are strengthened because of it. I have served as a scoutmaster, varsity and explorer leader in the Boy Scouts of America program run by our church. I love the great outdoors and enjoy the friendships that it brings into my life. I also visit the homes of four families each month to teach and serve them. I have gained great friendships doing this and I love helping others. I also love to assist the missionaries in our ward. I go out with them as often as I can and we enjoy having them in our home for dinner or visits. I have served on the school board for Auburn School District and still assist them as needed.
