Hi I'm Joseph

I grew up in Arizona and am currently living in Alabama. I am a self-employed entrepreneur. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in the LDS church. I attended college at Utah State University, studying Management Information Systems. I was unable to go on a mission due to medical reasons that resulted in my application being declined. I developed software while in college and was able to start a successful business selling it. I have had many exciting work opportunities since then and am consistently seeking to grow and expand my knowledge and resources as I prepare to attend law school. I have found that I am drawn towards opportunities to help others through creating innovative solutions. By understanding technology, I can successfully harness the capabilities of intricate systems to the benefit of others.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church and have been a member all of my life. While some aspects of the church and its teachings have been hard to grasp, I look at the big picture and am convinced of its truthfulness, making the minutiae easier to understand. It seems impossible that Joseph Smith could have forged the Book of Mormon merely as a figment of his imagination in the time frame that many witnessed he completed the translation. His abilities were inferior to a task of that magnitude. The fact that others were willing to sacrifice and die in defense of the Book of Mormon would not have occurred had it been a work of fiction. If the Book of Mormon is true, which I testify it is, than everything else naturally derives from it and is likewise true. All evidences and feelings aside, the church doctrines clearly advocate a pattern of living that is heralded by many both inside and outside the church. The dedication prescribed by the church is one that is unparalleled anywhere else. This in and of itself helps reaffirm my testimony. Living in a manner consistent with the teachings of heaven is clearly something that should be desired.

How I live my faith

I participate in many different aspects of the church. I have helped extensively with the preparation and performance of music given the talents and skills I have been endowed with. In addition, I also have had several different leadership positions, helping to implement and guide church policy and programs. I enjoy being able to participate in many different aspects as we collectively work to further the mission of the church and touch others throughout the world.

What is the Church’s position on abortion?

The key to understanding the position the church takes towards abortion is the pivotal stance on the sanctity of life that is clearly elucidated throughout all cannons of scripture. If reading with a critical eye, life, and the importance of the family become clear. In this light, the policy of the church on avoiding abortions unless a few rare exceptions are met becomes clearer. It is not meant to be a punishment, but rather a gift that encourages the growth and cultivation of life. While science may bicker on the start of life, God transcends all earthly knowledge and is aware of all things. Life is sacred, and should be treated as such throughout all stages of development. Understanding the gift we have been given should make us appreciate it far more and strive to share it with the multitude of unborn waiting for a chance to gain a body and complete their journey to eternal exaltation. While definitely a sacrifice, children help us better understand the joys that come through service. Sacrifice brings forth the blessings of heaven. If we are willing to work hard in this life, we will have unimaginable joys in the life to come. Show more Show less
