Hi I'm Ken

I love my family Lilian, Anna 5, Leah 3, Michael 1. I enjoy cycling and the outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I work as a technical project manager helping airline customers design their airplanes. I enjoy long distance cycling, backpacking, and playing with my young children. I'm a dad who looks forward to pancake Saturday, reading bedtime stories, and seeing the animals at pet mart. Growing up, my family moved every few years because my dad worked in the military. I've lived in the northwest almost 15 years and call it home.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of my strong testimony that Jesus Christ lived on this earth and he lives in heaven today. I am a Mormon because of the blessings my mother, father, and siblings have received over the years as each of us have faced various challenges in striving to obey the commandments. I am a Mormon because of my strong belief that the Book of Mormon is a true book of scripture about people and prophets who lived on this earth. I gained this conviction when I prayed in my basement bedroom at the age of 15. I believe Joseph Smith was a real prophet called by God and that Joseph Smith followed guidance from heaven to restore the full truths of God on this earth. I am a Mormon because my wife, children, and myself have received and continue to receive blessings from heaven. I am a Mormon because I enjoy serving other people - Mormons and non-Mormons.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving as the secretary to my congregations Bishop. I phone people and arrange youth and adult speakers for our weekly Sunday congregation meeting (Mass). I help to manage the meeting arrangements and schedule of the Bishop of our congregation. I attend the typical three hours of Sunday church meetings which include Sacrament (Mass), Sunday School, and a men's meeting. The men's meeting is typically a discussion about how to be a good husband, father, provider, Christian, neighbor, friend, and so much more. I lead my family in prayers every night and a special family night once a week where we tell Bible or Book of Mormon stories, sing, and eat a treat. I try to read the Book of Mormon when I can. I also live my life as a Mormon by visiting a couple families in our congregation, at least once a month. I served a mission in Thailand for two years when I was 19 years old. I can still speak Thai today. I live my faith by striving to be a good person and serving others.

What is being a Mormon like?

Being a Mormon is like being a normal person. There is nothing wierd or abnormal about Mormons. I go to work 5 days a week, make a mortgage payment, change diapers, shop at Safeway and look forward to vacations. Being a Mormon is striving to live the best life I can and teach my children ways to live a balanced and wholesome life as well. Show more Show less
