Hi I'm Gary

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a dad of three grown boys, and I'm married to a wonderful woman. I'm an engineer and a computer enthusiast. I like to study history and my wife says that I do math for fun. I guess there's some truth to that.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I know that the church is true. I know that the Book of Mormon truly is a record of people that lived in the western world before Columbus discovered America. I took the challenge in the book of Moroni 10:4-6. I read it when I was fourteen and prayed about it. As Moroni says, the Holy Ghost revealed the truth of it to me. My favorite part of the book is in Third Nephi where the resurrected Christ appears to the people and they come forward one by one and feel the prints of the nails in his and and his feet and bear testimony that he was resurrected. I'm also a Mormon because the teachings of the church make sense to me. As a scientist and engineer I know that the earth was created by Christ as it says in both the Book of Mormon and the Bible. I know that life on this earth could not come about in any other way. I know that the gospel and it associated authority given by Christ were restored through Joseph Smith.

How I live my faith

I try to be an example to others. I try to attend every week if I can. I have a calling as a teacher in my church. Since I have three boys, I've been involved in Boy Scouts over the years. I've been a merit badge councilor and helped with other Scout activities. I try to take part in community service project that our church organizes. I try to follow the Savior's request to be a light to the world.

Are Mormons Christians?

Gary
The true name of our church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We believe that it's important to name our church after Christ because we worship Christ. If the church doesn't bear His name, it can't very well be His church. Many have said that we aren't Christians because they disagree with the things that we believe about Christ. I feel that if we worship Him, and try to do His will and His works, we can call ourselves His followers whether others call us Christian or not. I bear my testimony that He was who He said He was. He was the Son of God. He created this earth as part of His Father's plan for us. He responded to our Father in Heaven's call and agreed to atone for our sins, and then He fulfilled His promise and took upon Himself the sins of all those who would believe in Him and keep His commandments. Then He died on the cross, and was resurrected after the third day. Because He was resurrected, we will be too. Because He atoned for our sins we can return to our Heavenly Father's presence if we repent of our sins. Show more Show less
