Hi I'm Renee

I grew up in the Seattle area, and am a stay-at-home mom of two in California now. I've been a Mormon my whole life.

About Me

I spend most of my time with my two little boys. They take up most of my time right now, and we are usually found playing with Thomas trains, cars, or playing outside. When I find some time for myself I love to run, hike, and swim, and am planning on running a half marathon with my sisters-in-law soon. I'm a little bit addicted to food blogs and love to try the new recipes I see. I want to read and learn more, and understand more about the world.

Why I am a Mormon

I am grateful for the example of my parents who faithfully took me to church every Sunday, and read the scriptures and prayed with me at home. At a young age I saw answers to my simple prayers and started building my relationship with God from there. I know He has been guiding my life. His Spirit has been there to warn me about bad decisions I have made, and show me a better way. I can see the hand of God reaching out to all of us through the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ in these days. I know Joseph Smith was a prophet, and created the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by the commandment of the Lord. I know this through reading the Book of Mormon, and trying the teachings contained in it and taught by this church. When I read the scriptures, pray, and follow the teachings of Christ, I feel the spirit and receive the blessings of obedience. I have been guided at different times of my life to meet certain people and be able to share my faith with them. These experiences at school, work, and during a mission in Japan have been some of the most joyful and meaningful experiences of my life. I know God lives, and is guiding our lives.

How I live my faith

I go to church every Sunday, and right now I spend most of it watching the little nursery kids so the parents can enjoy the meetings. I still am able to take the sacrament and remember the sacrifice of our Savior every week, and between feeding and entertaining kids, I try to make the most of my time there and recharge my spiritual batteries. I have always enjoyed singing in the choir, and sometimes I play the piano or organ to accompany the singing. We have a great choir director right now who picks the most beautiful pieces for us to sing. I also help make sure all the church members are taken care of and visited. I visit two women in the ward every month, and help them as much as I can. If they need more help than I can provide I coordinate with the rest of the church members to make sure the women or their families are taken care of.
