Hi I'm Janie

I'm a wife. I'm a mother. I'm a friend. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in beautiful San Diego, California. I'm the 4th of 8 kids, and my childhood was wonderful. I had so much fun growing up in such a big family. My siblings are some of my best friends. I hope my kids will feel the same way about their brothers and sisters someday. I've been married for three and a half years to a wonderful man. We're great friends--I'm lucky to have someone in my life who makes me laugh everyday. We have an 18 month old son who sure keeps me busy! I spend my days doing puzzles, drawing pictures, and making messes in the kitchen (usually messes involving chocolate chip cookies) with my sweet son. I love music. I play the piano and sing--there's always music in our home. I love to read, sew, try out new recipes, and travel. But for right now, the thing I love most is being a mother. It's the greatest job in the world.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Church, but believe me, if I didn't believe so strongly that it's God's church, I wouldn't still be here! :) Three hours of church every Sunday isn't for the faint of heart. Seriously, thought, I'm a Mormon because it makes me happy. Sure, you can find a degree of happiness without God's plan in your life, but we can only find true, lasting, eternal happiness through our church, Christ's church. I feel God's love for me daily. There's a song that the children in our church sing that really sums up my feelings: "I feel my Savior's love in all the world around me. His Spirit warms my soul through everything I see. He knows I will follow him, give all my life to him. I feel my Savior's love, the love he freely gives me." I am a Mormon because I feel my Savior's love, and because I want to follow Him.

How I live my faith

I'm currently serving as the pianist for the children's class in our congregation. I love it! It's so fun to watch the children as they learn more about Jesus Christ and as their testimonies grow. Every month, I team up with another woman to visit two women from our congregation. We share a brief message and make sure their needs are being met. I love this opportunity to serve. I make it a priority to study the scriptures and pray daily. My sweet son is a great example to me. Although he is too little to really pray on his own, he constantly reminds me to pray by folding his arms and saying "Amen" when I'm finished. As a family, we pray daily and have a special family night once a week where we sing songs, play games, and have a gospel lesson. It's a great opportunity for us to grow closer together and strengthen each other's faith.
