Hi I'm Rick

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of four and a grandfather of one grandson. My lovely wife and I have been married twenty-four years. My family and I are all natives of Arizona. I like to draw with my kids, run, bike, hike, camp, read all kinds of books, and write. I am a teacher. I served a mission in Japan and now my oldest son is serving in Japan as well.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the church all of my life. As a teenager I started wondering if the church is true. It took several years of prayer, church attendance, and trying to understand the gospel for me to really know for myself that the church is true. I believe that there is a prophet and prophets here on the Earth just as in ancient times. I enjoy reading the words of the living prophets in the church magazines and scriptures. I always feel prompted to be a better person when I read their words. I truly believe that our Lord and Savior speaks to them and they pass the messages on to the rest of the world. I also love reading the scriptures. I just finished the Book of Mormon and am starting the New Testament. I believe the scriptures are meant to inspire and guide us through the difficulties we face in this world. They are meant to bring us closer to our Father in Heaven and His Son, Jesus Christ. In the Scriptures, and from the living prophets, I have learned that there is no other way to live with our Heavenly Father again except through Jesus Christ who died, was resurrected, and atoned for our sins and illnesses. I testify of these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

Currently I participate in the church by helping the leaders of the Young Women organization, the Boy Scouts, and the younger children's leaders in Sunday School.  I serve them by helping them to get the things done that need to get done so they can teach and help the children of the church. Recently,I was able to spend and afternoon and evening visiting the young women at girl's camp. I had a wonderful time listening to their stories, their testimonies, and songs. Just before that, I was able to go on a campout with the young men, or scouts. We hiked around and camped for two nights enjoying the outdoors. I enjoyed listening to their testimonies of the church and playing capture the flag with them. I have the opportunity to visit families in our area as well. There are many wonderful people in our area from all parts of the United States and world. They all have different cultures they share with others. We often discuss the gospel and help one another with projects like putting in sprinklers or shoveling rock. I really enjoy working together with neighbors in our area for the betterment of our community.
