Hi I'm Steve

I am from Tempe, Arizona, I am a software developer at American Express, and I’m a Mormon.

About Me

I have been happily married for more than 33 years. I have seven children and three grandchildren. My family is most important to me. We enjoy strong family unity, and love to get together. I prefer a warm climate, and enjoy hiking and collecting rocks. I also enjoy getting acquainted with my neighbors. I have been active in Boy Scouts of America. I earned the rank of eagle scout, and have served as a scoutmaster and assistant district commissioner. I was honored by the BSA to receive the silver beaver award. I am an analytical person and a deep thinker. I enjoy organizing things, and thrive on process improvement. I find great satisfaction in making things better. My undergraduate and graduate studies are in computer information systems, industrial engineering, and technology. I have done software projects for Ace Westchester, AIG, Fireman’s Fund, America West Airlines, Bank of America, General Electric, Honeywell, Intel, Arizona Public Service Company, and others. I love my current job managing a team of talented software developers at American Express.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because: • It helps me to anchor my faith in Jesus Christ. • It strengthens my family. • It helps me strive to be my best, and to love and serve my neighbors. • It brings direction, peace and stability to my life regardless of where the world is heading. • It helps me know that I have a loving Heavenly Father who knows and cares about me. • It provides understanding that I am part of a great eternal plan of happiness, and to know the purpose of this life and where I go after death. • I experience great happiness and blessings.

How I live my faith

I pray and study the scriptures daily, and I lead my family in prayer and scripture study each day. I fast and pray one day each month for humility and gratitude. I spend time in the temple on a regular basis because it helps me feel a closeness to my Father in Heaven, and it fills me with inspiration and heavenly peace. The temple is the House of the Lord. I counsel with my wife concerning the needs of our family. I also listen earnestly as the prophet and apostles speak. They are inspired. I pray for those who are in need and labor to bless and lift those who are burdened or oppressed. I marvel as I observe the healing power of the atonement of Jesus Christ, and the tender mercies of the Lord poured out upon those in need. Clearly our Heavenly Father loves His children.
