Hi I'm Suzette

I am the child of hippy parents, a collector of garden gnomes, I adore cats and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have four children to my first marriage, three cats and an uncounted number of garden gnomes.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always loved Jesus thanks to being introduced to him by my mother at a very young age. I was always confused as to the Jesus that was being represented to me though, and, although I asked those in "authority" they could never adequately answer my questions. I put my hunt on hold to get married and have children, and pursue more worldly endeavors. When missionaries knocked on my door 13 years, four kids and a divorce later, I invited them to talk to my 10 year old daughter who was actively seeking Jesus as I had been years ago. I listened to what they said and started to learn too. The things they said made sense, and sometimes I thought I had heard such things before. Things like not shopping on Sunday, well, I had always felt uncomfortable doing that. It was a blessing to find out those feelings were real! Fasting on fast Sunday used to be hard but now I find it easy because you can fill myself with the gospel, and get your nourishment there for the day! I enjoy having the Holy Ghost as my guide, I just ask and he answers me every time. Sometimes not in the time frame I wish or with the answer I would have thought, but it works, every time! I love the comforting feeling I have of always having someone to turn to. My baptism this year was a wonderful day. I detest putting my head underwater but on the day, well, I could have stayed under for ages, I felt Jesus was right there with me! I also went to the temple for the first time and was baptised and confirmed for four dead people, two of whom were my grandmother and great grandmother.

How I live my faith

We never miss a sacrament meeting. Every time I go I always feel a swelling of the spirit in my heart. My family and I have family home evening nearly every Monday, as well as night time prayers, blessing the food and family prayer before we go about our days. We also try to speak with respect, obey the ten commandments and dress modestly, although that can be hard in a family used to wearing singlets in summer! We obey the Sabbath, and keep it holy.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Missionaries are real people, they think and feel and suffer as we do, but they have the backing of Jesus Christ, Heavenly Father and the Holy Ghost. They love to share and speak from the heart. They will also have a bit of a joke and some fun with you too. Sure, they are earnest young men and women, they have some important stuff to share, but they also enjoy life and only want you to happy too! Show more Show less
