Hi I'm Christian

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm studying an undergraduate degree of Psychology, and hope to be able to study Medicine after. Could be a lifetime of study cut out for me, but I work at a hospital, and love that environment. Helping people physically and spiritually is what I love doing. I love to surf. Waking up before sunrise and hitting the waves early is the best, freshest start to my days. My whole childhood was spent at the gymnastics hall and diving pool, because I love it! Training myself for years to do all sorts of flips in the air is what I do best.

Why I am a Mormon

I love being a member of this church. The principles and ordinances of this gospel guide me to pure happiness. Joy cannot come from the things the world offers, only temporary pleasure. We have all experienced the world, and know where the majority of it leads to... unhappiness! I have a strong testimony. I know that God is real, and the he is the Father of our spirits. I know that Jesus Christ is His son. Only through Him can we receive joy in this life, and in the eternities to come. Joseph Smith is the Prophet of the Restoration. I revere his name, and am so grateful for all he has done to restore the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Knowing that God knows me, and all that I have gone through gives me so much strength and hope for the future.

How I live my faith

I love going to church. Its a strengthening experience, meeting with members of your local word. My calling is a ward missionary, and stake YSA leader. I help the full-time missionaries find people to teach. With this calling, I am constantly telling my friends and co-workers of my faith. I really try not to be 'preachy', but I do tell them of how uplifting this gospel it; how it can bless THEIR life. About how this gospel has helped me find true peace and happiness. As a Stake YSA leader, we organise activities for Young Single Adults to come to. What's more boring than sitting at home on your own on a Friday night, right? We play night beach volleyball, movie nights, dances etc. I love serving in the church.

What is the First Vision?

Joseph Smith was just a young boy when he desired to learn more about his eternal salvation. He surrounded himself with different churches, but could not decide which one to follow. He contemplated this often, referring to the truth he had access to. Reading from James 1:5, which says "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not and it shall be given him", Joseph developed faith and acted on his desires to learn more. In 1820, he found a place where he could be alone, and pray to God. As he did so, a marvellous event occurred. Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, appeared to him. They told him that none of the churches were true, for they only had portions of the truth. But, in time, truth was to be restored in its fullness. This event is called the First Vision. Through this, we can understand that God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost are separate beings. This event was the beginning of the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Truth was to be restored after this wonderful manifestation to the young Joseph Smith. How awesome! To know that God does answer prayers, and that truth can be found. Show more Show less
