Hi I'm Michelle

I graduated from college with a degree in Elementary Education. I'm a stay at home mother. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Northern Virginia, where you learn to hate traffic and love snow days. My interests are centered around theater and film. Although you may think since my college degree was in Elementary Education that this isn't true. Let me tell you, being a good teacher often means being a good actor. I didn't discover I wanted to be a school teacher until I was in college studying Broadcast Journalism. It was there that I realized I wanted to share my passion for the arts with our youth. I am a mother of one. My son is 9 months old. I love staying home with him. I had the realization this morning that you'll do pretty much anything to get your child to laugh. Even if that means you play peek-a-boo 50 times in a row, each time inventing a new silly face. I convinced my husband to get a motorcycle so that he could teach me to ride. Now he loves them more than I do. I can't decide if that is good or bad.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the LDS church. I went to primary, sunday school, and seminary. But it wasn't until I left for college that I really felt my testimony grow. I lived in the same house my entire life and then decided I would be fine when I moved 2000 miles away from home to go to college. I was alone and living the college life couldn't hide the fact that I wasn't close to my family anymore. I longed for home, my friends and the way things used to be. With the Lord's help I realized that I am never alone. I studied my scriptures and prayed harder than I had my entire life. He blessed me by helping me form a friendship with my sister that I had not had before. It has changed my life for the better. I know that His gospel and church are true. I can tell when I am choosing the right and being obedient to His commandments, because I feel His love for me. My worries are comforted and I, through my faith in Him, am strengthened. I rely on my Savior every day. He helps me make important decisions and helps me have patience with myself and others. I want to be with my family forever. This motivates me to keep the covenants and promises I made to my Heavenly Father when I was baptized and when I married my wonderful husband. I know that if I do my best, that through repentance and the Atonement of Jesus Christ that we will be together forever.

How I live my faith

I have set a new goal for myself--to organize group activities. I feel strongly that people should get together and socialize often (outside of Facebook and other online mediums). I have learned from personal experience that it doesn't take a lot of time or money to help people build friendships and have fun together. My husband and I have started inviting other couples to meet at local parks to play Ultimate Frisbee. Considering the only thing you need in order to play is a Frisbee and we have one, it makes it easy! I also work with the Young Women at church. Through leadership and activities I try to encourage them to be virtuous and gain a testimony of Jesus Christ early on in their lives. It is important to me that they are prepared to face opposition through righteous living.
