Hi I'm Julie

I am from England and now live in the US. I am so I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married and have a son who's 12. I love the Huskers and football. I enjoy music and watching movies. I also enjoy family history and discovering more about my ancestors. I moved to the US when my son was 3, I sold everything that I had to come here. It was the best decision I ever made.

Why I am a Mormon

Two missionaries knocked on my door and spoke to me about the Church. I wasn't all that interested, but they were the first Americans I had met. The more I listened the more everything they were telling me made sense. They didn't tell me what to believe they gave me information and asked me to pray for myself. I read the information I had been given and got down on my knees and prayed my first real prayer. I began to feel a peace that I had not felt before, and then I felt a warmth envelop me and I knew that what I had been told was true. That was 15 years ago and although I have had some hard times in my life, the one constant was knowing that the Church is true. My Heavenly Father loves me, that alone makes a difference to me every day.

How I live my faith

I have been attending Church for 15 years now have had many roles. It's comforting to know that no one gets paid, we all work together. I have a wonderful calling. I work with the Young Women between the ages of 12 and 18. I teach a Sunday school lesson on Sundays and some day's learn more from them than they do from me. We have activities on Wednesday evening we have fun and learn useful things like sewing and arts and crafts, cooking and child care. We also do service projects, we visit the elderly and donate items to thrift stores. These wonderful young women are our future and I am so proud to know them.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Julie
I have experienced many types of help for myself and my family. I had a kidney infection and members of our church brought meals to our home every night for a week. It was a wonderful and practical way for them to help. I have also helped many neighbors who are not Mormon. Show more Show less
