Hi I'm Micah

I'm a student working toward a degree in Public Health- Health Promotion and Education. I love the outdoors! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a student working toward a degree in Public Health-Health Promotion and Education. I'm working to support myself. I love camping, hiking, fishing, biking, and just being in nature. I also really enjoy reading and listening to good music.

Why I am a Mormon

I am an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for several reasons. The most important reason however, is that it makes me happy. I have looked other places for joy and contentment, but I have found nothing that gives me the same amount of peace and happiness that following Christ's example does. I have faith in Christ because I have felt His healing hand in my life. I have learned that His life, death, and resurrection was not just to lead a perfect life and take upon Himself the sins of the world, but to suffer also for every hurt that we ourselves have and will experience. I know that when I am going through a trial in my life He has already felt the things I am feeling. This is a great comfort because I know that I can turn to him for relief. He has run to my rescue countless times and has healed my heart. I also know that our Heavenly Father and our Savior, Jesus Christ, appeared to a boy who was earnestly seeking for truth. With his help, another testament of Jesus Christ has become available to us. I know that The Book of Mormon is indeed, another testament of Jesus Christ. I know that if God is our Heavenly Father He would speak to all of His children, not just one group on one continent. If He truly wants us to know Him He will give us the opportunity to do so. Because He loves us, He has not stopped speaking to us. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. So, if He spoke to Moses, Noah, and Abraham, and He sent us a Savior why would he just stop giving us Prophets to lead us? He hasn't stopped. We have a Prophet on the earth today who speaks with God and gives us counsel so that we can find joy in this life. I know my Savior lives and loves me. He suffered everything for me...and for you. His atonement is all encompassing. His life was not in vain. It was for us.

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday by trying to follow the example the Savior set. I pray for answers to questions I have and read the scriptures so that I can draw nearer to my Heavenly Father. I participate in my congregation by visiting and helping those who are sick as well as organizing community service and humanitarian aid projects. I am also assigned with another women to visit a number of women in the congregation. We make sure that they are doing ok and we help them when they are in need. I find joy in helping others and in turn coming closer to my Savior by following in His footsteps.

Why do Mormons perform proxy baptisms in their temples?

We believe that God is a just, merciful, and loving Father in Heaven who has given us certain commandments to follow in order to enter His presence. One of those commandments is to be baptized by proper authority. If He has given us this commandment, surely He would give everyone the opportunity to participate in that. I believe He gives multiple opportunites to us. This is because He loves us and He wants us to live with Him again. There are many people who have died without hearing about or accepting the teachings of Christ. We participate in baptisms for those who have not had that opportunity. In turn, they can either accept or reject that gift that was given to them. We do this in the temple because it is a sacred place where sacred things happen and the authority to bind on earth as well as in heaven is there. There is a peaceful feeling that is had in the temple that you can't find anywhere else. Show more Show less
