Hi I'm Brenda

I was raised by a single mother, was a troubled teen, made bad life choices and the Gospel changed my life greatly. I am a Mormon

About Me

December 2008 was a bad time for me. I was having serious financial problems and was distraught. I knew that there was praying to God but I didn’t feel like I was ever worthy. I was raised by a single mother. My mother wasn’t spiritual, my only exposure to Religion, was from my grandparents, they were devout Catholics,. But I didn‘t see them often. I made some bad choices, I smoked, drank, and even got into drugs. That was the reason I had never felt able to pray, and I wasn’t quite sure I knew how. In the middle of December, the Missionaries, from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, knocked on my door. I would have lied, and said “ I am a Jehovah’s Witness”, and send them away. But I asked them to come in. They prayed with and taught me about the Gospel. Their visits had a calming effect on me. I got baptized and I was able to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, and thanks to the prompting of that Spirit, I have made good choices. I have received many Blessings, I don't worry about financial matters,I learned to be a better steward of my money, let go of my bad habits, have faith in God, and feel worthy to pray. I have been a faithful member of the Church, and have proven worthy to enter the Temple. Learning of the Gospel and the Book of Mormon has changed my life. I’m a spiritual person who now knows that God has an Eternal plan for us. I now have a wonderful church family, and I know what it feels like to be loved. Something I have never had before.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon, because I have been learning the Gospel and it has changed my life so significantly that it has made me know for certain that my Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ lives, the miraculous change in me is proof enough of that for me. Because my life was filled with unspeakable events, I thought I would never ever have happiness. And in joining the Church, I have been nothing but happy because of the many Blessings I have received from the Lord. These things I could have received only because I have such Faith and I choose to honor the covenants I have made with the Lord. I have been given the answer to why we are here on Earth. And that God has a plan for me. I now know what I need to do to recieve Eternal life. No other religion has ever touched me so deep in my soul like the Latter Day Saints. I feel it's the true faith for me and what I need in my life.

How I live my faith

Through learning the Gospel, I know that God wants us to emulate Jesus. I try as often as I can to do a good service for someone and not expect anything in return, doing because of the love in my heart makes me feel like I am doing what my Heavenly Father has asked. I offer my service anytime there is a need I can help with. I volunteer my services of entering family information into a computer service which helps people find ancestors to do their family lineage.Service brings me my greatest joy.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

I have a strong testimony of the Gospel. I didn't before I became a Mormon, but since I was baptized and received the gift of the Holy Spirit, I strongly believe that God and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ lives, that they love each and everyone of us. I know that Jesus gave his mortal life so our sins can be forgiven and that someday He will be Lord of the earth and we will be able to walk with him. I have a testimony that a young Joseph Smith asked of God which was the true church and got the answer that he would be able to re-establish Jesus's church once again on the earth, when he was guided to find the golden plates on which the Book of Mormon was written. A book that is in tune with the King James Holy Bible.I know my testimony is true because deep in my soul I can feel the spirit guiding me. I feel it when I read the Gospel. I am greatful to learn everything I can about our Heavenly Father and our Lord and Savior through the Gospel. Everything we all could ever need to live a good life, is told to us through the Bible and the Book of Mormon. Show more Show less
