Hi I'm Maria

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I just turned 22 and am currently serving in the Texas San Antonio Mission. My mom was baptized when I was about 6 years old and I was baptized when I was 8. I haven't always had the testimony of the restored gospel that I do today. I was inactive during my teenage years but I came back after realizing that true happiness is only found when we are living the way our Heavenly Father has intended for us to live. I'm so thankful that my mom decided to join the church and raise me in the true gospel with good values and morals.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Latter-day Saint because I know that this is where the truth is found. ALL of the truth. There came a point in my life when my mom's testimony wasn't enough to keep me going. I either needed to know for myself or walk away. I was inactive for a few years but I could never bring myself to do anything that I knew was against the things I had been taught. After many years of frustration and not finding happiness I decided to try going back to church. It was hard at first but by the end of that first Sunday I knew where I should be. I could feel my Heavenly Father's love stronger than I ever had at any other time in my life and I knew he wanted me back. I wouldn't trade that feeling for anything in the world.

How I live my faith

Not long after I came back to church I receiving a calling to teach in nursery. (18 months - 3 year olds). It was really fun and though our lessons were a couple of sentences about simple gospel principles I knew that those children would have some kind of foundation to build upon as they grew older. Soon after that I was in charge of typing up the programs for our services. That calling required me to be at church 45 minutes before services started. It was challenging the first few weeks but after some time I began to really enjoy being in the quiet church building early in the morning. It gave me extra time to prepare to learn during our meeting. I am currently serving a mission in Texas. It's the most rewarding thing I have ever done in my life. I get to share the message of the restored gospel all day everyday for 18 months. I have the opportunity to see the Lord's hand in the lives of every person my companion and I meet. I am able to see the process of someone receiving a witness from the Spirit of God that this is true. There is no doubt in my mind that our Heavenly Father is mindful of each and everyone of his children here on the earth. Even though we get rejected often and I miss my family at home I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm grateful that my Heavenly Father has trusted me to share this message with others and help them on the path that leads to eternal life.
