Hi I'm Matt

I love the Lakers, Music, Reading and my Family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I try to shoot below 100 when I golf. I watch the food channel (Triple D), HGTV (Because my wife has sucked me into that one), ESPN and the Disney Channel with my kids (Hello Phineas and Ferb!). I am a life-long Lakers fan and wore my 2000 Lakers championship t-shirt to the birth of each of my 4 sons. I try to spend as much time as I can with my family while juggling a job that requires me to be on the road 60+ nights a year, volunteering in the local elementary school's "Watch DOGS program (Dads of Great Students) and serving in the church. On airplanes I love to read or sleep. I love desserts and have been know to order dessert before my entree!

Why I am a Mormon

My parenets raised me in the church but always emphasized that I needed to determine for myself if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was in fact, Christ's church restored to the earth through prophets. When I was a teenager I wasn't sure, but I decieded I needed to find out for myself if this message was true. I read the scriptures and I prayed. I wanted to have a vision, thunder, lightning and the burning bush! However, what came to my mind and heart was a clear voice stating I knew this was indeed the Lord's church. I also know that the Book of Mormon (like the Bible) is the word of God and that there are prophets on the earth today that guide the church according to the Lord's will. It has never been an easy path to follow, but since I committed my life to God I have been blessed far beyond anything I deserve or can comprehend.

How I live my faith

Like all church members I am not paid for any service I provide within the church but serve out of a sense of duty and love for my Heavenly Father and his son; my Savior Jesus Christ. As part of my faith I try to follow the example Christ set; one of perfect obedience to the commandments of God. I am far from perfect and make more than my share of mistakes, but I have experienced the wonderful blessing of forgiveness many times in my life which gives me hope during my time on earth and hereafter. My faith helps me deal with the ups and downs of life; to have a broader persepective than I would naturally and to never give up no matter what the obstacle! I'm thankful for great friends and family (whether they are members of the LDS church or not), that do their best every day to live moral lives that bless their fellow men. Some day when my life ends I hope that my wife and children can say, "Matt loved us and the Lord every day of his life".
