Hi I'm Jared

I was born/raised in Mesa, Arizona. I served a mission in Portland, OR. I enjoy sports and family. I love life. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the 3rd oldest of 6, but I am also the tallest. I am a sports fanatic, but Basketball is my number one option. I am a jokester, I make a goof of myself sometimes and I laugh about it. I am a hardcore Phoenix Suns and Arizona Cardinals fan. I am a music lover, just not with country. I am an eater, but I can sometimes be picky. I am a big fan of the color green, nothing beats it. I am passionate for the scriptures, they impact my life so much. I have served a full-time mission in Portland, Oregon, and it was 110% worth it. I plan to have the best life I will ever have with a career and a family of my own. I am Jared Auwen, and I AM A MORMON.

Why I am a Mormon

It actually all starts with my dad converting when he was around 16. If it weren't for him, who know where I would be now. I know that his decision and sacrifice impacted my life as well as my family's. So then I came along..... I was born in the church and I've never had a problem with any of it. But I never had a real testimony of it until I was the age of 16. I read the Book of Mormon twice already. And after reading it the second time, I decided now was the time to ponder if it was all true. So I knelt and prayed...and I didn't get an answer right then. A few minutes went by... and I had a very good feeling. Actually, it was an amazing feeling. It was a feeling that I never felt at all at that time. I knew that night that it was all true. The Book of Mormon is the word of God and that Joseph Smith was His prophet who restored it all back on the Earth. After that night, I truly felt that I converted myself. I know that I am never falling away from this church because all of it is true. One-hundred percent of it!

How I live my faith

I show my faith to the Lord as I have served two years for Him as a missionary in Portland, Oregon. I knew that it was what He wanted and it was the right thing for me to do. I feel...actually, I KNEW that I owe it to Him. It was not an easy thing being a missionary. Their were sacrifices and challenges, but they helped me see life differently. It changed my life in so many ways. It's like riding a bike for the first time: You're nervous to ride it and you might crash sometimes, but when you get back up and keep on riding, while shifting into new gears, it gets easier and you love to do it. Being a missionary taught me to be a better person with my experiences. I love giving service, my prayers are more meaningful, going to church feels more peaceful, I developed a love to read scriptures, and I feel close to God every day. I came to love and care for people up in Oregon. Bringing those not of the restored gospel to come unto Christ every day. And even though I'm no longer a missionary now, I strive to find opportunities to help others. My faith in Christ gives me a desire to share it with others. I love my Savior and everything that he has given to me and to everyone in the world that I don't even know in this life. The life changing moment, Jesus Christ.
