Hi I'm Jay

I am an Engineering student, I love math, and i'm a Mormon

About Me

I grew up in Utah, and I served a full time mission in Texas. I really enjoy literature, and electronics. Those are basically my favorite things. I am getting a degree in Electrical Engineering. My greatest accomplishment thus far is marrying the most beautiful woman on earth, despite my nerdiness.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because of my love of the truth. Not only has my religion helped me find the truth about God, and about His Son, Jesus Christ, but the truths I learn in the scriptures have carried over into every aspect of my personal live, and my studies. A lot of people have this big disparity between religion and science, or between free thought and faith in God, but because of the doctrine of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I have realized that I don't need to turn my brain off at church. Another reason I have chosen to be a member of this church, rather than some other church is because of the Spirit. The Spirit has helped me discern the choices I need to make, and where I need to go, and what I need to believe. I have felt the Spirit testify to me the truth of the Book of Mormon, and of the teaching of the truth. That is the greatest reason I have chosen to be a Mormon. There is no greater witness than one from God, and is the witness that I have received.

How I live my faith

I live my religion by learning it's teachings as thoroughly as I can, and then I make any necessary adjustments. I am far from perfect, and I often learn things that are cause for repentance. Being a Mormon, to me, is about being the best person you know how to be. We have the example of Jesus Christ to follow, and countless opportunities every day to be a blessing in someone's life.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Mormons believe that the Bible is the word of God. It is scripure, and we accept and apply it's teachings. We also have other books of scripure as well, such as the The Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price. All of the books of scripture testify of Christ as our Redeemer. None of them take anything away from the Bible, and they all support each other Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

We believe that God is perfect, he knows everything, and has all power. He is the governor of the universe. He loves us perfectly, and there's nothing we can do to change that. We also believe that He has a body of flesh and bones, as tangible as ours is. His body is perfect, just like he is, and never old, sick or injured. He has all power and all dominion.
